F1 Week On Speed Channel's "Windtunnel"

With the US Grand Prix only a week away, the TV show Windtunnel with host Dave Despaine, has decided to devote his full week to F1. For those not familiar with the show, its a call in, e-mail in, talk show that interviews a different motorsports personality in all different types racing every night Mon.-Thur. Personally, I've become addicted to the show, much to my wife and childrens dismay!


This upcoming week he will be talking to a different F1 driver each night, to include JPM and DaMatta, and viewers will be able to ask them questions. Its a treat for us in the states to actually see and hear these drivers interviewed, as our F1 coverage is not what it should be.

I surely will be calling! By the way, Wind Tunnel is quite good, isn't it?

My only disappointment was that when Michael Andretti was interviewed, last week, Dave was clearly briefed by Michael about "not asking some subjects". Quite possibly his decision to field with Tony George was amongst it, and when a question about this issue was presented Michael hesitated to reply and gave a vague answer... Not a surprise to those that know that he simply sold out.

Supposedly they have a letter of intent from Bernie Ecclestone. Nothing concrete, but that interview would be interesting.
The Andretti interview was interesting in that he didn't seem to even acknowledge that he might have been partially to blame for his F1 failure. He basically said that the team had to justify Hakkinen's salary, so they gave Mika all the testing responsibilities and left him out in the cold.
I guess it had nothing to do with Andretti's decision to remain in the States and not fully devote himself to F1 as the category requires.

I will not be able to see these shows. My new (hecitc) schedule forbid it. I will tape them though. Maybe its time to invest in Tivo!!

I had a good laugh over that! A letter of intent from Bernie means he won't be there!

Thanks for the tip GP Racer. I had not gotten around to watching his show, but Despaines used to be one of my favorite automotive writers so I will give it a look tonight - errr check that and tape it instead.

I just checked Speed's schedule,and apart from the "Wind Tunnel" shows, it's all NASCRAP !! Speed's getting worse and worse. I only watch it for F1 and WRC . The rest is redneck garbage. It's no wonder F1 is not popular in North America. Billy-Bob Joe gets more exposure racing his dirt tracker around some no-name 1/2 mile swamp in North Dakota !
TSN in Canada will of course pre-empt the Indy F1 for the Canadian Cheerleader's Championship,1975.
