It was this that was confusing me - and why I was thinking German in an iconic livery.

I couldn't get the 917 Gulf out of my mind, and kept looking for one that had the clubs symbol on.

Nice shot of the cars for the Targa, could you name the drivers of all of the cars?

Jo Siffert/Brian Redman, Richard Attwood/Bjorn Waldergard and Pedro Rodriguez/Leo Kinnunen all in Gulf JWA cars.
Vic Elford/Hans Hermann in the Salzburg car?

OK. Without using Google or similar, which of these marques was the first British car to win the Targa Florio, which year and who drove?

Don't worry, Mike, the question was intended to be educational rather than competitive.
If one does not know the answer Google is the next best bet.
I am sure everyone will be surprised to know that RBS knew the answer. Wonders will never cease.

It is on a shiny aluminium surface and suggests Napier Railton, but where on the car I have no idea.

That will do me Bob. It is on the front of the car just above the radiator.

RB you have had two correct answers, except mine was not the one you were looking for, so there are two possible 'right' answers to your quiz.

Both answers you gave were good, the Minardi was the only non DFV car but Tont Trimmer drove most of them was not quite correct , he only drove one of them, the answer I really want involves the manufacturers. As Recovery Discovery correctly stated..

Welcome aboard RD, you are to clever for Gerrards stupido club.

No worry RD, one day or another you'll join us. Just a matter of time, questions and answers.

Quick answers needed, I'd say "Flying" answers.

You're looking for a town/track/race name.
F1 related.
The clues: In the question and "I'm longer than the longest with less turns."

No PM, straight forward, no pussy style answer! GO!

Very good attempt Viva, but not the answer I'm lookin for. Another clue taken from your answer? Avus had only two turns if I'm right… Well not exactly two but this is supposed to help…
