Yeah, even I know this topic must have been posted, like, a million times before but I have a cunning plan.
End of the season. Neutral circuit (eg. Zandvoort or something). F1 drivers. All in identical cars (eg. TVR tuscans, Caterhams, whatever). Televised. All proceeds go to charity. May be even wild card drivers. Who's the best? Who would win? Who would come second AFTER Schumi? Why not?Wouldn't it just be the BEST!!! LET'S GET IT ON!!!! Top six finishers please..... |

I'd love to see every F1 driver race another in identical F3's. That would settle would would be the best and not just in the best car.

The problem is that one driver may be better in an F3 car than the rest are in F3 cars, but he might be the slowest driver in an F1 car.
For charity? How much would be left after the appearance money is paid? Don't they already have events like this for go-karts, and aren't the results always a little topsy turvy in them? |

The best driver in equal equipment would not fit in an F3 car.
That would be Jean Alesi. [This message has been edited by Liz (edited 24 May 2000).] |

What about Jenson, wouldn't he be in with a chance if they raced F3 cars? After all, he's the guy with the most recent experience in that class. On the more serious note, I'll agree with Liz, Jeanot's the man

Whoah! Hold on a minute! An F3000 car would not be "neutral": Heidfeld/Button would have an advantage. Pluis which, with all their wings and stuff it'll be too close to an F1 car. Like in the origional post, hows about using Caterhams, Tuscans or something?
Don't forget the wild card entrants: Test drivers (is Burti really faster than Herbert?), the odd CART person and the best from F3000/Sports cars etc. |

Put them in the same cars with equal experience but the talent they have now. And take away any racing related injuries - I think Johnny Herbert would have been a fine front-runner if not for that dreadful accident of his. And who knows what Cranky Mika would have been like if he'd not had that accident of his?
And I will still bet on Alesi. He's got the racer's pash. |

Mika outraced Senna a couple of times as his teammate, before that accident. Yes he did win back to back WDCs. Think what he would have done at full strength!

It would be Alesi, no question. He's still the best driver in F1.
