Fred Gallagher WRC co-driver
Does anyone have contact details for Fred Gallagher? My dad drove in the Tulip Rally in the 1950s and I understand Mr Gallagher has records from that period or knows the source of the records.

This link will find most rally results . For the Tulip rally Holland , search under "Tulpenrallye " , it does have results going back as far as 1949 . That is a bit too early for me , but I did the event several times in the 80s , when it was mostly centered around the middle of Holland & a lot of military testing grounds |

Thanks for that but the early years only contain a small number of the entrants, not a complete list.

Had a check through to try to remember some of them .
1988 there was a sudden hailstorm , road covered in tiny ice marbles & I finished up in a deep ditch , as well as several other cars on each corner along a couple of miles of the stage . But Mike Bell in his 205 GTI managed to finish that year which must have been part of the UK GTI rally Championship. |

Just had a check on the "British Rally Forum ", & found that Fred Gallagher is a member there .
Not very active , but he did visit the site on Oct 19th last , so you might be able to PM him on that site , although you will probably have to join to send messages . |

His name was Cyril Wray and he would be entered in a Ford of some kind as he was a Ford dealer. I remember a sit up and beg type Prefect and a Mk 1 Zephyr. He later ran a Mk 2 Zephyr then a Lotus Cortina, but that was late 50s/early60s, and I'm fairly sure he didn't do the Tulip in those. I don't know the exact years.
He also did some other continental rallies but not the Monte Carlo - maybe the Alpine Rally. His co-drivers included Freddie Baxter and Frank LeBoutillier (his brother in law). Thanks for the help. |
