No offence to Charlie O'Brien; because I have the upmost respect for him, but wouldn't the WPS consortium be better advised putting Greg Ritter in the car, and Charlie could continue in Carrera Cup, and do the enduros?

I didn't think there would be much doubt Skaife would have No.2 on his car.

No, SBR own #4 and will remain Ambrose's reserve number if someone else wins the championship this year he can have #4 back if Ross and Jimmy dont sell it, and they wont,\.

It's about time this business of 'owning' numbers is given the heave-ho it deserves.
At the very least, numbers 1 through to 10 should be allocated, each season, to the respective positions in the previous years championship - no questions, discussions or arguments. In reality, the entire field should be allocated their position from last year - this would then stop the BS of cars running numbers like 021, 888 etc etc |

I have been an advocate for this is a few different threads but have always been howled down, as far as I am concerned it just makes sense. It would be a shame that DJR and the like might not have the No that has lond been associated with them but so be it.
Thecko 32 forever. |

#4 is reserved for Marcus until he is no longer the #1.

#00 belongs to Racecar Preparation & Management P/L which is the holding company of the underachieving 00 Motorsport. And is for sale, with a fresh Green Eyed Monster AU, and as much workshop equipment you can fit in a 2500m2 floorspace as you need to build race cars....

It depends on how you look at it.
Does 05 belong to Brock? Yes 05 does, but the NUMBER 5 doesn't. And why should 00 belong to Lowndes? He ran it for, what? 2 years (was it 2?) - surely that can't be used as a claim to a number. Similarly 17 - by this argument (Brock and Lowndes) it should belong to Dick Johnson - but we didn't see it retired when he retired - it was simply given to Junior and, no matter how you look at it, Junior is nowhere near the same leagues as Dick Snr. |

If the team owns an entrant's licence, theoretically it owns the number. Not sure if Mr Forbes protected the "00" brand with a L3 licence...

GTR - where does it say, in either the FIA or CAMS NCR's, that anyone owns a number apart from the Number 1 which is usually allocated to a particular series champion?
Sorry - but NO ONE owns numbers. |

What about the AVesco bible RT?
They changed the system of reserving numbers last year. And if two teams want the same number then the most senior team gets it, but of course Avesco has the right to change that too. |

The AVESCO bible cannot over-rule the NCR's, in the same way the NCR's cannot overrule the FIA regulations.
AVESCO, believing themselves to be the law they are, believe they can do anything. However, no one has, as yet, decided to really fight AVESCO (well except Terry Morris). And, as for AVESCO's 'rule' that no on e can challenge their rules - that hasn't been tested in a court of law yet and, I would hesitate to say, a court would not uphold AVESCO's right to prevent challenge. |

They can overrule them if the people who are hypnotised by the AVESCO spell choose not to follow the convention but believe everything in accordance with the AVESCO prophesy...
I for one cant wait for the Morris case to get to court... or perhaps settled on the steps as these things are known to do |

I would have thought that would be close to coming to court now. What happens if we get the result mid season and then if they win, the Morris's want to run another car. Then if Steve Ellery and Paul Little want their slice of the pie, we could end up with 38 cars in the championship.

The nature of the win will likely see the PMM, SER, PLR franchises upgraded to L1 rights and income streams as single car entities. There was a change at the start of 2003 for franchise slots to be able to be separated and sold individually

pete - what is wrong with 38 cars? Or 48 for that matter?
It is only AVESCO stopping this number from running - to the point where, and lets be honest about it, it is being artificially set up and manipulated. The phrase 'May the best man win' cannot even apply to V8's - the best man isn't necessarily running n the championship yet - I don;'t think anyone has come in from outside to start winning - but there are a few who have come in and started to win, each time getting better. |
