The option was to renew him or not and let his contract lapse. I didn't see the terms but it could have saved them money but his backing by Honda has to help make that decision easier. They could have potentially tried for someone coming up with backing and cash but he has won twice and a couple poles. The Indy Lights field is getting sparse and the winner's bonus doesn't pay a full season. Veekay won the race but couldn't quite catch Askew, another year in Lights seems out if the question but where he goes up to is also a question. If he could bring money, and he's supposedly connected to money sponsors, then the rumored third RLL seat could be a starting point, or have given Bobby a bit to think about before bringing Sato back. All in all with Rossi and Herta set it seems like silly season will be more about the cars and testing the aeroscreen than drivers.

Newly crowned IndyCar Champion Josef Newgarden, ran 6 demo laps on Charlotte's Roval. Could the Charlotte Roval be added to the IndyCar calendar? The Indy Racing League competed at the Charlotte Motor Speedway oval from 1997 to 1999.

I'm thinking it's more to get interest in a crossover event. The insurance for Charlotte was rumored to be INSANE after they killed a spectator the last time out. And they haven't changed much in the catch fencing since so

The monstrosity above was the working model to develop the alignment and finish. Even with this part there will be more tweaking and smoothing. Indy management is willing to put a part out there and test, rather than FIA's here you go, it works great, we tested it. (see ALL aero studies for the last 10 years or more). Interestingly they have also set aside time for Seabass to test the visibility with his glasses as well. Wish they could incorporate more teams in to the testing but I believe Indy and Firestone are paying for it themselves. Firestone also has a few new compounds to test as well.

Looks like the Penske does have a slight wing element on top of the halo which the Ganassi car doesn't have. Interesting.

I'm guessing variations on the trim to test airflow, helmet lift and cooling. The parts were supplied by PPG and the teams don't get to play with them. Although Indy management did say teams will be allowed to sell that stripe at the top of the screen to sponsors as shown today.

It will take some getting used to and the head on view is by far the worst. I think there will be some tweaking and hopefully tightening of the upper rim to be less bulbous but who knows. At least they're willing to work it as try things out.

This shot shows what looks like a vent at the bottom of the Aeroscreen, in front of the cockpit, on the Ganassi car. There is no wing element at the top of the Aeroscreen, like on the Penske car, so I was wondering if there was also no vent on the Penske car? Are they testing two configurations?

There appears a vent on Power's car, I think because of the colors it doesn't stand out but it's there at the center of the screen in the picture above.

Looks like Conor Daly is out at Arrow SPM for 2020.

Although I prefer RM's Schmidt Peterson Arrow McLaren, or SPAM. Think they're missing a golden meaty opportunity there.
