Anyone know if you can fly with your helmet in your hand luggage - my flight's at 2pm this afternoon...

1200Datto27 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Call the airline?

I am pretty sure you can. No one I have ever travelled with has had any trouble.

Ta! Have you ever tried to find a airline phone number (where you can speak to a real person)? Anyway they say "probably"...

I've taken my helmet as hand luggage all over the world - never had a problem.

Bit late now I know but how did you get on?

When I went to Sebring in 03 I had to check my helmet into the hold as they said it wouldn't fit in the overhead bins. I checked before anyway so packed it really well and didn't have a problem and its a good job as there was no way it would have gone in the overheads bins with any padding round it.

Yep, went fine. Carried it in it's Bell padded bag - it just fitted in the overhead bin of the big plane (747 type thing) and either under the seat in front or in the stewardesses locker on the little prop plane. No-one batted an eyelid at it - the guys on the x-ray machine were just interested in what it was ("yeah, I'm an International racing driver...").

Well you have been known to leave Macclesfield and venture as far afield as Donington and Mallory!

You're not French, so you wouldn't have got the drive anyway (mois bitter? - it was rather a long way to go for 5 laps...).

You'll have to keep your eyes peeled to pick me out - I decided I wasn't going to be "Jade off Big Brother"...
