Hasn't it always been like that?

Bit harsh on most young drivers on the grid I think. The vast majority work bloody hard to get themselves the required funding.

All these scheduled driver/team announcements. The puppet master has been killing it this season. Organised and planned. This is what a long-term rule-set, support category, TV deal and series sponsor brings to a series. Bravo.

Fully expect one — if not both — of the MG drivers to be new to the series.

Tordoff at Motorbase!

3 TBLs at Motorbase again, then...

They did...

My rough guess is that this is BMR's old TBL.

Awesome awesome news.

My money is going on Motorbase for the constructors trophy this year without a doubt, that’s a very strong team now, providing nothing else happens.

Good news. Was this a surprise? - I cant remember many people talking about Tordoff.

If they get Jackson as well, then motor base have a fantastic driver line up.

Either that or Parker - despite the rumours I can't remember hearing anything from them about the BTCC since Jelley's 'send-off' tweet for the Focus. Unless Moffat goes to BMR, then it could be the Laser Tools TBL...

Somehow the grid manages to get better and better every year...

The door opens for Mat Jackson to TD then? Sams money fills the hole left by a Mat departure, plus one ANOther pay driver to make 3 cars?

Great news and great looking car or maybe it's just me loving the look of Focus RS so much. Anyway, it's good to see Tordoff back and it seems that Motorbase has one of the best driver lineups this year.
And it looks that we have yet another 'best-ever' grid shaping up for 2018, don't we? With the likes of Sutton, Plato, Turkington, Collard, Jordan, Neal, Chilton, Jackson, Tordoff, Nash, Goff, Morgan, Ingram + more young guns, it seems that almost everyone can win in 2018!

Just missing Ant Whorton-Eales who's looking less and less likely to be on the grid this year...

Yeah, nah. This was a done deal way before Autosport even. Take a look at the twitter photo from when they announced the RS and you can see Sam’s car on the lift in the background.

If Mat leaves that’s one thing, but Sam isn’t plugging a gap created by any move.

You're right, that would be a big loss. He should be on the grid, he's capable of much more than he showed in 2017.

Also explains why Sam’s not been in the running for the TD seat

They have an ex-WSR BMW, apparently.

thlbtcc should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
To recap, the Welch TBL which was loaned to Motorbase has now gone to HARD/Brisky. I am unsure if it's still loaned, or now purchased — anyone able to clarify, please?

Then, to facilitate the Tordoff deal, it sounds like Motorbase has acquired a BMR TBL.

Cicely has their own TBL, plus one purchased (along with a Focus) from Stewart Lines — used for Oliphant. No more Maximum Motorsport on the grid.

Hope this is all correct? Please shoot me down if not.

Moffat/Laser Tools own a TBL. They could:
  • Continue as they are with the Merc and Cicely running the car
  • Move to BMR and utilise the 4th Subaru with their own TBL
  • Move to BMR (the third Subaru, using BMR's third TBL) or another team, whilst loaning out their own TBL to someone else

If it's anything but the first option, then there's potentially another space floating about not currently accounted for.

Guess you need to look a that picture again, the car on the lift isn't a race car
