Croft competitors from 60s & 70s

To tie in with the forthcoming Croft Nostalgia weekend, I'm trying to contact a few of the names from the past, particularly the York crowd such as Bill wood, John Coulter and Mike (Max) Rheinhard. I have the details for a number of the North East competitors who we still see at Croft on occassion but would welcome any other info to enable me to send an invite to the event.
For all you nostalgia buffs the meeting is the 7th & 8th August with HSCC championships, militaria and numerous car club displays. Should be good.
Have a look at www.croftsupportersclub.com

Thanks for your response and, yes, I would love their addresses particularly Ken Walker who I fondly remember putting the cat among the pidgeons with messrs Barton, Bell & Clacher when he raced the Mini.

Try searching for Cedric Bell, at Bells Garage, Carlisle. Thats where he had his garage, albeit many years ago. Someone may know of his whereabouts.
Good Luck

Sedric Bell Mini Racer

Sorry guys, Sedric Bell passed away last year from Parkinsons Disease.
I raced against him often. He was a very quiet chap, but he knew how to handle a race mini. Sad loss. Not many of us left now.

Just as a follow up to my initial post, on Saturday morning at Croft I bumped in to Roy Snuggs who was accompanied by no less than Ken Walker. I was therefore able to invite Ken to the Sunday gathering of 'old' drivers. Those attending, and bear in mind I was keeping it low key in this 1st year,
Jim Adamson
Ron Harper
Jimmy Blumer
Andrew Barton
John Blades
John Absalom
Michael Starkey
John Simpson
Dave Manners
Alex Clacher
Keith Bowmaker
Geoff Temple
Ted Payne
Tony Sugden
John Macdonald
Brian Morris
Jeff Wilson
Joe Lanny
Ronnie Whitaker
Ken Walker

Quite a collection!

By the way, there were one heck of a lot of press releases sent out but one can't always get editors to use them plus the Tall Ships at Hartlepool took all the TV time. despite that there was a good spectator attendance. Watch out for next year. Any offers of Sponsorship?

Did Roy Snuggs work with Richard Simms for a while?

Yes he did. His son, Richard, competed in Formula Renault for a while as well.

Thanks, that puts a name to a face in my memory.

Richard had a crew of weekend warriors and others and Roy was one that I could not put a name to. Another was the father of Jody Firth, now racing GT and sportscars and his engine man was Frank Kelly who also did work for many northern racers. If I recall correctly his partner in the B19 and B23 and a few of his many deals was David Sugden, father of Tim who also raced a clubmans car in the 70s and a Ginetta in prodsports. Brian Martin was building and rebuilding cars on Pete Smith's farm and was also involved in this crew of enthusiasts. The Chevron on the home page of the 70s website is Richards and the sponsor was Simon James Motors who sold exotic cars from somewhere near Skipton
