Spa Classic

I am surprised to see that there is no thread yet about this event, which brought together two classes of Classic Endurance Racing, the Nastro Rosso Trophy, Group C and several other interesting classes.

In case you are interested to see what you have missed, you can check out our report here:

Henk, unfortunately this is one event the Brits seem to miss [apart from a few informed people, one of whom was playing in a rather nice little blue car!] Wasn't able to spend much time there so just popped in Sat and Sunday for a quick look. Looked like some pretty good grids though.

The Yorkshire/Suffolk International Race Team were there. Although Il Commendatore ran events from the Riviera.

Weather on Friday was wet/damp, Saturday and Sunday much better. Standard variable Spa weather. New La Source hotel is good.

Griffith was very quick and no doubt will be back up there in Sept.

ELVA was performing well, quicker than at last years 6hrs but a faulty wheel bearing meant a DNF.

Speedster ran under 3.20's so was impressive.

Il Commendatore-like it.Weather better here.

Michael ran the show!

He's back in saddle for Tour Britannia.

The boys all agree that the Peter Auto races are more expensive than most but are value for money.Where's Eddy for his take on proceedings.Propably only real E Type there.

Pieter, it is, but we still need someone (you, in this case) to post on these events to set the thread rolling! Ideally, I'd like to see all historic racing, worldwide, discussed in this forum, but it will always need someone to kickstart it!

I have no problem with that, but the amount of British participation in this event, also in the CER, would certainly be enough for somebody from the island to start a thread. (in this case f.i. the Commendatore could have started it...)

Our first time at Spa. it will come as no surprise to anyone that we would love to have another go. The organisation was up to the usual Peter Auto standard. Having heard various horror stories regarding the paddock at Spa, it was good to find that the organisers had paid particular attention the layout, giving ample room and facilities for all. I am certain the event can only go from strength to strength. From a personal point of view; the Jag spun a main bearing in 2nd practice. So, the only real fun we had was based on the consumption of frites, mayo and strange beers. Some of our crew stayed at Hostellerie Roannay which was excellent. Have already put the 2012 event on our list of events to do.
