From what I understand removing weight isn't much of an option, as the whole structure of the car is built around what is there, so I'm guessing messing with the restrictor on the motor is the only area where they could speed up the LMH cars. LMP2 cars have been pegged back a bunch already, that I think it'd be better served to speed up LMH instead

when ACO/FIA decided LMH had to weight 1030-1040kg everyone designed the car according to that... since weight distribution is a critical aspect of a racing car, I'm sure carbon tubs, ballasts and hybrid hardware speaking about toyota were all designed and made to accomplish the best WD possible at that given weight.
To reduce the mass of the car will be a big mess, surely achievable, but would be required more than some time since a complete new balance needs to be found, and this involves suspensions, hardware placement etc.... it's not you can drop some ballast out of the car and simply go on... |

We could add HP but not shed weight. Both of us are within LMH performance window. We'll run as the rules wanted us too. We're both 15s off last years Le Mans Quali time. LMP2's aren't 15s off of theirs. Toyota has clearly said they need to be in a "different ballpark". We agree. |

Still big props to the Glickenhaus operation so far. They are doing things right with the testing. It is natural for the skpetic in us to think that if not done right this could be another effort that would compare to the AMR One, Nissan GTRLM, ByKolles, and Ginetta. I think we can set our expectations (well) above these now for sure.

Finally showing some real pace at the Nurburgring; only 7 seconds or so behind the top cars. Has a great shot over the weekend, provided the rain doesn't get too messy

The last time a non-German marque (albeit engineered by a very German outfit) won N24 was 20 years ago. I'll be rooting to see that change.

Until this "parade" start of the current qualifying session I didn't realise how small the 004 is. It's like a 250 LM vs regular GT cars.

Yeah, would be fun to see it do a lap of the Ring at full pelt. Maybe one for the future

Yeah, I wouldn't do something so risky before the car's race debut. Maybe after Le Mans.

Hmm the latest car looks by far the most purposeful, if not necessarily the most pretty.
Has it really got a chance against the Gazoos? |

Westbrook sounding confident. Hopefully the pace is where it needs to be.
