After categorically stating there would be 19 races this year and failing to do so the investors must have been livid. Presumably that is why he had to leave.

Don't get why people think it's odd. Carey said right from the start that it was a short term position for him. Stefano is universally liked and respected in the paddock. All the F1 principals have said he is the right man for the job including Red Bull and Mercedes.

Stefano certainly helped make Ferrari more open with the media than his predecessor Todt did. He seems like a nice guy and I’m sure he has a good brain and being with Ferrari make him experienced with all the politics that go with the sport
