Do not forget Parga hairpin... where the battle Castellano-Ledesma started at the end of lap 17 to conclude in the Salotto curve on the next lap in favour of the Chevy driver.

BTW Buenos Aires is one of the very few tracks I knew that has two sectors named after motorsports journalists (Alberto Salotto in the big curve around the lake and Alfredo Parga in the hairpin area).

Boring race at the new Neuquen track this april 18th.

Ugalde the winner, Lopez with gear problems and Ledesma (17th) as championship leader.

In the TC Pista race, Sebastian Porto, once Moto 250cc winner and title contender against Dani Pedrosa and Lorenzo, won his first race.

Moto2 has a spec engine and professional drivers. TC has three totally different engines (not to mention chassis and bodies) and drivers ranging from professional to amateur.

However, engines are strongly ecualizated by the ACTC year after year and every advantage one engine gets they automatically reduce the compresion ratio to it.

Emiliano Spataro, the two times TRV6 champion, finally got a deserved win this last sunday in Posadas TC race.

http://www.turismocarretera.com/modu...ults/index.php

He was running 2nd after Gabriel Ponce de Leon that had pole position on saturday, won his sprint race and was leading until something in the suspension broke, but he is still leading the championship.

Good news for TC fans!!!

Next sunday 4th of July the will race in Buenos Aires but without the chicane in the "Ciervo S" at the end of the main straight.

This will make the cars reach faster speeds before "Salotto" big curve

From google earth it may not look that tight, but the chicane has huge curbs and obliges the cars to brake a lot more...

Buenos Aires race is in course, MatÃ*as Rossi got the pole and won the first heat. Second heat was taken over by Emanuel Moriatis. Third heat is about to go.

Meanwhile, José MarÃ*a López continues his dismal 2010 TC season after a spinoff caused by fuel pump problems at Parga hairpin just before the end of 2nd heat.

The 2nd win for the season to Rossi, who controlled the race with no problems.

2nd place to Gabriel Ponce de Leon, who leads the championship but still has no final race win, wich he needs to clinch the 2010 "copa de oro" (golden Cup playoffs)

And now finally Ponce de Leon had the much needed win in the Rio Cuarto track at Cordoba to fight for the championship.

The 2nd in the race, Gabriel Werner was disqualified due to technical issues after the race (his engine had 2 cylinders with 0,1 higher compression than what is allowed and even the average was still high enough to end with empty hands)

Belatti should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Results for this weekend in Parana:

The heats were won by Werner, Altuna and Canapino.

Final race:

1° 2 Mariano Altuna 38:59.049
2° 18 Mariano Werner 38:59.193 0.144
3° 13 Matias Rossi 38:59.473 0.424
4° 11 Agustin Canapino 38:59.756 0.707
5° 8 Lionel Ugalde 39:00.940 1.892
6° 17 Gabriel Ponce De Leon 39:01.168 2.119
7° 6 Norberto Fontana 39:01.905 2.856
8° 10 J. Manuel Silva 39:02.266 3.217
9° 1 Emanuel Moriatis 39:02.833 3.785
10° 44 Nestor Girolami 39:16.967 17.918

There are only 2 races to go (La Plata and Buenos Aires) and there are 10 drivers with realistic chances of winning the playoff.

1 18 Werner M. 64,5
2 8 Ugalde L. 50
3 2 Altuna M . 48,5
4 11 Canapino A. 46,5
5 10 13 Rossi M. 35
6 17 P. de León G. 33,5
7 7 Ledesma C. 33,5
8 5 Aventin D. 33
9 1 Moriatis E. 32
10 9 Castellano J. 30,5

and 11 with mathematical -and very unrealistical- chances if we count that the last race gives you 150% of the points.

This playoff copycut of NASCAR rules is what me

This are the REAL championship standings of the whole season:

1º 17 Ponce De Leon Gabriel 215.50
2º 18 Werner Mariano 163.00
3º 11 Canapino Agustin 161.00
4º 7 Ledesma Christian 158.50
5º 1 Moriatis Emanuel 158.00
6º 2 Altuna Mariano 152.50
7º 8 Ugalde Lionel 147.00
8º 13 Rossi Matias 145.50
9º 9 Castellano Jonatan 143.50
10º 5 Aventin Diego 140.00
11º 20 De Benedictis J. Bautista 119.50
12º 36 Angelini Juan Marcos 113.50

And Im saying this even though I dont like Ponce de Leon and I want Rossi, Castellano or De Benedictis to win...

Yesterday the race in La Plata was won by Rossi in the Chevy.

Championship "playoffs" standings are:

1 18 Werner M. 80
2 11 Canapino A. 64
3 13 Rossi M. 60
4 2 Altuna M . 56,5
5 8 Ugalde L. 55
6 5 Aventin D. 45
7 1 Moriatis E. 38,5
8 17 P. de León G. 38
9 9 Castellano J. 36
10 7 Ledesma C. 36

The big problem that Werner and Canapino have is that they both havent won a final heat in all the season so they cant be champions, no matter how many points they have. There is only one race left in BsAs and if neither Werener or Canapino wins, Rossi, Altuna, Ugalde, Aventin and less likely Moriatis, Ponce de Leon or even Castellano and Ledesma can win it.

The nice thing of the weekend was that there was an exibition thanks to a guy that bought one of the Williams Cosworth that Carlos Reutemann raced in 1981, here a pic of it:

I recently came across the laptimes of the Williams in the exibition. It was driven by Mazzacane (a slow but steady F1 driver from Minardi and Prost) at 1.18.902.

As a reference, TC pole was set by Norberto Fontana (another ex-F1) at 1.28.057

Another thing that worths mention is that yesterday Giallombardo won another TC Pista race...
