SeniorsTour?
A Seniors Tour for retired F1 drivers in identical cars based on F3000 specs is being rumoured.
A good idea?? |

great idea, i'dlove to see Hill, Brundle and others having a good time, and maybe some REAL racing.

Include Nigel Mansell in that list too! The problem is that BE would be really against it as it may well become more popular than the current F1 series.

It's a great idea. Let there be four races, at Silverstone, Monaco, Monza, and the Nurburgring. The rules on drivers is that they have to have begun in F1 at least ten years before the present date; they much have completed at least 50 Grands Prix; and must have finished among the top eight in the World Drivers Championship at least once.

Cut to the chase - great idea - DFV engines - only spectators over forty too - and no Germans called Schumacher - I assume Fish Flake means long Nurburgring - in which case I'd like to vote for Brands Hatch GP circuit NOT Silverstone

I second Brands Hatch (or is that 3rd that?) But i thought the initial idea was to run it alongside Formula1 and the race is at Silverstone! Not sure i like the idea of spectators being over 40 though? Anyone know someone who can forge my passport? |

There is an Old Farts Racing series in the UK. See them at Silverstone on 3rd April.
Anyway, back to topic. Any info on who is trying to get this series off the ground? It would be fun. Moss could have a go too! |

As to what some people mentioned, I thought that the drivers must be retired from Formula 1 was a given, but while we're at it, let's make it that a driver has to be retired for two full years. I meant the new Nurburgring, under the assumption that a Legends series would be a support race during a Grand Prix weekend. I said Silverstone, Monaco, Monza, and the Nurburgring because those are names closely connected to the history of Formula 1, regardless of their current state. I would have included Spa, but I don't want some of the older drivers to have a heart attack driving flat out through Eau Rouge!

Forget Hill, Brundle and the other cry babies, put the men back in the cars. Brabham, Stewart and Moss are the guys for this

Problem:If Nigels bum wouldn't fit in a McLaren 10years ago ,its hardly going to fit in to a modern day car.
We'll enter Chris Amon,he could win a GP yet. |

Nah, Villeneuve hasn't retired yet.....
It really ought to include Spa though, DFV engines (3.5's)proper slicks and Minimal aero. Could call it Formula F.O.R.C.E. (For Old Racers Chancing Everything!) Last edited by Dick Spanner; 12 Mar 2004 at 12:08. |
