If he was still racing (that is a requirement?) Anth Robson would also get a vote from myself.

Perhaps a post-humous mention for Andy Caldecott or was his Dakar ride this year considered professional?

Hard to say which drive was the better though as Nick had less laps to do it in after the pace car laps and did it twice in two races and Steve got the fastest lap, but they were both equally great drives. |

I have been thinking about Andy lately, with Dakar coming up and all. He really loved the event, and it was always a pleasure to follow his progress... Alot off topic I know, but are there any Aussies competing this year? Last edited by Boxy; 23 Dec 2006 at 08:04. |

A special mention to Wayne Wakefield, for doing what no other driver can do in an 808 wagon.... someone give this guy a decent racecar!)
Honourable mention for Shane Price for really stepping up to the plate this year. I can't see a reason why this guy cannot be a front runner in the next couple of years. Dishonourable mention to TBA, for his continuous poor form over recent years... But tonight's award goes to David Reynolds. Given a bit of guidence, this dude will be the one to watch in the future. |

Paul Stubbor (spelling? he is in the Historic's), the way he drove the HDT A9X at musscle car masters until it broke was amazing and the way he drives his camero is awsome, with him the series should be called Historic Drifting.

I'm surprised Scott Fleming wasn't mentioned sooner actually - the bloke is a genius behind the wheel but lacks the budget to run in a bigger pond... (Runs Improved Production at the moment)
3 times State Champ, Nationals winner, lap record holder in various cars over the years etc, he's one bloke who can really steer. I'd love to see him in National series, but sadly dollars aren't easy to find thesedays... Young Ryan Brown from Newcastle is another with a bright future. Was a bit off Fleming's pace this year but for a kid in his first full season he showed plenty of promise, finishing 2nd in the NSW championship and 3rd at the Nationals... |

[QUOTE=GTRMagic]If you can drive sub-V8Supercar times at various circuits across the country, regardless of a car advantage (perceived or not) then you already know how to drive at mach 10..
Arguably, the Alfa has : 10% more horse-power (with no rev limitation). : at least 15% less weight : probably 5% more rubber on the road : better down force : better suspension Sub-v8Supercar times ??... Blah, a walk in the park ! |

I thought Luke Youlden has got the goods.
Ok he may have been in a v8 supercar but he still gets my vote. |

paydirt you forgot one thing. You have to be able to drive the alfetta! Most wouldnt know how or would be scared stiff of it!
The car would be a leathal weapon in anyone elses hands. The reaction times would be that of an old formula 5000 on its limit crossed with a Ralt RT4 right on its limit. Sports Sedans still the best race cars racing in australia!!! |

I'm allowed to nominate one person and vote for a stack of others who I believe are all very good at what they do on the track aren't I?
Edit: I also nominated more than one person... |

If you're only supposed to vote for one driver why is the thread called Australia's Top 10 non-professional drivers?
Bit pointless voting for one when the thread's main question is asking for the top 10. Last edited by Chatters; 27 Dec 2006 at 04:24. |
