99 and onwards are quite a bit roomier than prior to that due to the dimensions and regulations resulting from cockpit head protection and so on. If you head to a Monoposto or BRSCC F3 meeting you'll probably find a car of that age to try your bum in.

At which point you can utter those immortal words:

"Does my bum look big in this?"

I'll get me coat

driftwood has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I sold a 397 car tp a 6ft 2 guy he fitted it but it does depend on if yr long legged or long in body for fitting comfortably
Howver if you are tall and wide across shoulders only 1 f3 car worth buying if you are a big lad and that is the 399-01 dallara
the head support thing can be cut around to suit and tub is a bit wider than 97 car but for everyone else the 95 car onwards will fit most folk
95/6 will not need a seat for anyone 5 ft 8 and over
97/8 onwards will need seat made tp stop you sliding around
The F3 car is the best value for money race car you can ever buy

I would advise making carbon fibre crutches and wheel chair just in case !
I agree they are horrible and dangerous looking things, I would not risk racing one those either. Its a car where if you stick your arms out you can literally touch the front wheels and also the rear wheels!

Sadly i cannot afford to do anything as lavish as "oliday" i was up to Silverstone dropping off picking up stuff then collecting scooter delivering to W11 in London to earn a crust in these hard times
I was expecting you to be there with some wheels for me but i guess the wind was too great for you to venture further than the end of your street

If you have 15k to spend, Jeremy Timms is selling his Dallara 397 - Vauxhall engine. He won the Mono championship last year, 2nd this year and holder of many lap records. Quick car. Quick driver.

Check out the Mono forum. His user name is 'running on empty'

I know where there is a TOMS F3 car for sale. Eligible for Mono & BRSCC F3, I think. Probably cheaper than a Dallara!

I suppose from the same sorts of places that people get the spares for the F1 cars that you try to sell - from the many specialists & engineering fabricators around the country ie, you get them made up. Plenty of people do that already for many, many types of race cars.

yes fine make some wishbones if you can afford to invest in some jigs to be made and carry some parts on the truck but what about things like wings floor sidepods unless you want to invest in making moulds prior to running a car you are running the risk of damage that cannot quickly be repaired
That is why people buy mass produced race cars as spares are around.
Whether its F3 FFord or Historic F2 Gp 6 race cars the infrastructure is in place to obtain the parts
1 off or low volume built cars generally sell for less due to lack of spares

Yes yes yes........Mr Driftwood is so very right.....wherever would you get spares for a TOMS?

Why, with a Dallara you'd only have to make a call to a very courteous dedicated retailer on the South Coast and the items you desire will arrive the very next day, gleaming, fresh from the seaside, & all wrapped in bubblewrap .... at such extraordinary modest prices. After all, as there are so many Dallara spares around they must be cheap

Of course, it might just be the guy selling the TOMs would supply it with spares package including 40 wishbones (choice of wide/narrow track)/12 uprights/spare sidepods/wings /nose/3 gearbox cases/ input shafts /driveshafts/discs etc etc etc

But then to find out we'd have to know who it was who has a TOMs to sell and i suspect the vendor is a very shy retiring type ........but the more i think about him the more the images of him become clearer.......mature, but still somehow strangely youthful, 6ft-3 with a lean athletic build, stylish & suave, an impressive mind, reflective, considerate, kindly to small creatures....ahhhh......yes.... that is the guy!

All that salty sea air - can't be good for the metal bits, though. Much beter to source things from inland!
