HSCC Cadwell (25/4/04) and Silverstone 4-5-6/6/04

Don't forget that the HSCC has their next meeting at Cadwell on 25th April - yes, I know Cadwell's a long way for nearly everyone but worth it when you get there.
Also we have a big meeting, jointly with the VSCC at Silverstone on 4th, 5th & 6th June on the International circuit That's not a 'typo' - we are practicing AND racing on the Friday - I know it's another day's leave (holiday or sick leave!) but well worth it!
Hope that lots of you can make it. You'll be made very welcome.

I'll be at Cadwell, should be an interesting day, especially if the grids are of similar size to Donigton last Sunday, all them cars getting a new view through 'Hall Bends', should be interesting at the 'Hairpin'.

HSCC - Cadwell Park - Sunday April 25th.

Any one wishing to volunteer for this meeting may do so directly to me on line by visiting www.marshals.co.uk and completing the Cadwell Park availability form. Alternatively, just e-mail me with your details.

John Franks, David Owen, Peter Howarth, and my self will be there to welcome you with our usual Tea/Coffee on tap at sign-on. 07.45-08.15hrs Hostility Unit in Assembly.

Marshals of all disciplines are required, so please come and join us for what promises to be an excellent well organised meeting.

I am open to offers for being allocated in the Hall Bends/Hairpin area, now that it looks very different to what it was.

Looking forward to seeing lots of you there,

Keep safe,
John Watson

I'll be at Cadwell, we should be able to see a bit more from the clubhouse parking point. Not sure if that is a good thing or not though!

Yes I agree, you'll just have to keep a lid on the biscuits at sign on.

But getting back to the initial thread, it looks to be a cracking meeting @ Cadwell in the making. So come and pay us a visit.

Actually Pete, he is correct. There is nothing new in me hoping to be doing very little and smiling a lot, invariably though I find I do more of both!

See you all next Sunday.

Yes, but it's better to keeping running all year, his new diet and fitness routine.
His nephew and niece have been told to keep him away from the biscuits.

Mud! Glorious Mud!!

Just a warning for anyone who is (un)lucky enough to be working at Coppice they've moved the box to the entry to the Chicane and the lower gap has been blocked by armco all the way along.

There is also a huge expanse of clay between the two sides of the post and I hope that the clay has dried out after the rain yesterday.

On the upstream there is nowhere, yet, to put the flags apart from against the armco in the mud and there is a phone pole stuck in the middle of nowhere.

A word of warning to whoever is assigned to flag at Coppice upstream use the circuit flags if it's raining you'll ruin your own in the clay/mud.

Unless alterations are being done this week there is no designated flag point.

I am some what confused. Having visited Cadwell Park a few times over the last year or plenty, I always thought that Coppice was the first corner, (left hander), after the start straight going uphill into Charlies, I have never ever seen a Chicane put there for a car race meeting !!!!
But there again, I have missed about a dozen meetings in the last 20 years or so.
The flag point is at post 1 on the infield in what is known as the Coral and I am sure that the usual paving slabs will be in place for this Sunday.
Please do not be put off by the previous posting, we are in need of more marshals of all disciplines for this meeting, the local weather forecast for this weekend is good, so be positive and come and support the HSCC which gives good grids and competitive racing. Contact me for details, or turn up for sign on between 07.45am and 08.20am in the Hospitallity Unit in the assembly area. You will be made most welcome and greeted with the usual Cadwell hospitallity of free tea or coffee. Due to local regulars being on diets, the biscuits will not be available to those who look like they should be on a diet !!!
By the way Kaybee, if you are going to be there, let me know and I will ensure that you are not allocated to the Coppice that I know, which is also one of the best flagging posts on the circuit, especially for using the blue flag.
See you all Sunday
John Watson

Just to clear up the confusion, we did a BIKE meeting there last weekend. The changes following the building of the chicane between Mansfield & the Mountain for bikes have left the area behind the armco between Coppice & the chicane ankle-deep in mud on a wet day like we had on Sunday. I don't know where the flagpoint is for cars, but for bikes we were flagging at the gap in the armco, which was probably the muddiest spot on the post.

They are there, roughly in the middle of the area between the two sets of armco, with a post on which is a box (locked last weekend) which I assume contains the phone!

I found out last night that I'll be there, trying my hand at the rescue unit (BRSCC-N). Should be an interesting time, which I'm very much looking forward to (all for getting involved in various disciplines, multi-tasking marshal that I am at most meetings )

Al.

John, I'm sorry if you found my remarks offensive but Coppice has changed considerably from the last time I marshalled there - Jaguar Car Club meeting July 2002.

My remarks were intended as comment, not criticism - believe me, on Sunday it was muddy!
