Would like to have another try at Knockhill but definitely not 26th July. Would also be interested in Croft.

Several new drivers have expressed interest in racing with Scottish Classics this year.
Additionally, a couple of previous competitors have indicated that they will return.

Attached are some photos I came across recently, from the early years of the championship.

Oh bother! I'm not going to make Knockhill this year with those dates. With my son living just north of Perth I usually manage to make one meeting, great little circuit if a tad chilly at times! Have fun

That's a pity, as event on 12th September has been confirmed.
Twenty-one Classics drivers have paid their deposit, which is the highest
number at Knockhill for six years.

Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Nineteen cars took to the track last Saturday in excellent weather,
mostly sunny intervals and relatively warm for October in Knockhill.
Regular winner, John Kinmond, Rover SD1, led qualifying. Closely behind
was David Brown, TVR Griffith, having his first event in Scottish Classics,
entered in Class C which is the invitation category for cars not complying with the championship technical regulations.
Andy Graham, TR7V8 was third, Adam Bernard, Porsche 911, in fourth place.
Another TR7V8, driven by Shonny Paterson, fifth fastest and last year’s
champion Bruce Mitchell, Lotus Europa, completed the top six.

One of the most exciting races for several years had Kinmond and Brown
circulating together, the Rover one second ahead after twelve laps. Similarly competitive was the charge to third place, where Graham got ahead of Paterson
on lap eleven. Bernard was fifth, having led both TR7V8s in the early part
of the race.
Sixth was Scott Brennan, Ford Mustang, posting his fastest ever time at the circuit. He had swapped places with seventh placed Mitchell a couple of times, less than a second being the difference at the end.
Alasdair Coates’ immaculate RS2000 was eighth, from Craig Houston, MGBV8.
Previous champion, Alastair Baptie, Fiat X1/9 was tenth, having circulated millimetres apart from Jimmy Crow, RS2000, until Crow’s spin on lap eight slowed the progress of both drivers. Mario Ferrari, Alfasud was eleventh,
and Crow, twelfth.

MX5 Championship regulars, Dugald and Andrew MacGregor returned to Knockhill to provide great entertainment on their way to thirteenth and fourteenth respectively. Duncan O’Neill, XR2, Michael Longstaffe, MG Midget, Bruce McWhirter, Austin A35 and Davd Robb, Cooper S, took the remaining places.

Race two was very entertaining although interrupted by two safety car incidents..
Bruce McWhirter rolled his A35 on lap five – thankfully he was able to exit unaided as soon as a marshal was able to open the passenger’s door. Damage to the car seemed light – hopefully we will see him back on track soon. Prior to this, Brown’s TVR failed on lap one and had to be recovered

Kinmond continue on his winning way, from Graham and Paterson respectively. The TR7V8 drivers were 0.15 seconds apart at the finish.
Bernard was a comfortable fourth. Mitchell led Coates and Brennan – these three crossed the finish line within two seconds. Eighth was Baptie from Houston and Crow completed the top ten.

The A40 is 1360cc, built by driver, Ian Morton, which was having its' second outing. It completed both races and is being fettled to move it up the grid in future events.

Restrictions allowing, there will be a final event of the year for Scottish Classics
at Knockhill, on 31st October.

Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
31st October

David Brown was fastest qualifier and winner of the first race at the final SMRC meeting of 2020. The TVR Griffith driver finished eight seconds ahead of John Kinmond, Rover SD1, followed by the TR7V8 of Andy Graham. Bruce Mitchell took fourth in a Lotus Europa. Fifth was Alasdair Coates, driving Jimmy Crow’s Escort RS2000, as his own Escort was being repaired. Adam Bernard, Porsche 911, had been running higher but dropped to sixth place at the end of the twelve lap race. First time out for Barry Horne in the superb sounding Escort BDA was rewarded with seventh place. Crow in the ex. Alex Montgomery MGBV8 came eighth, ninth was Alastair Baptie, Fiat X1/9 with Craig Houston, Lotus Excel, completing the top ten.
Making an appearance in Scottish Classics for the first time in several seasons was Scott Goodfellow in the rare Terrier MK2.

Drying conditions suited Kinmond who won race two from Brown, with Bernard close behind. Shonny Paterson, who retired from race one after two laps, powered his TR7V8 through the field to fourth place. Positions five to nine were taken by Graham, Mitchell, Baptie, Crow and Houston respectively. In tenth place was Andrew Macgregor in MX5 #17.

Great to see Bruce McWhirter return in his Austin A35 following his excursion at the previous event.
