Rallycar Class in Rallycross ?

Anyone know if there is going to be a Rally-Car class in Rallycross in 2007, and if so which series is doing it?

Have sold my Rallyx car but someone has offered me a Rallycar to have a go in if there is a class for it would like to get back out...

If a class got going I'd probably be up for that too. There have got to be a lot of people with cheap clubman rally cars (F1000 and logbooked Endurance cars) that might be tempted to have a go at rallycross if the entrance fees weren't too high... especially as the cost of stage rallying seems to increase extortionately every year.

is rallycross a race licence or a speed licence?

if people have to go getting a race licence too that'll put quite a few off. thought that was the reason that it died out a while back

Minimum is non-race national B - so anyone with a rally licence can do it.

The RSS ran a class for rallycars at a couple of their meetings last year but their didnt seem to be a lot of interest. Not sure if they are going to try again with the open championship.

Well its a cheap way of getting some fun in your rally car, I suppose its not worth the organisers doing it unless they find at least 6/8 cars to give it a go.

I'd be using a bmw 325 CHALLENGE car, fancy doing it as it would be fun to try RWD after previously drivng the fwd's.

I am fairly certain you can rallycross with a Race, Rally or Speed licence if you already have one, and the Non 'Race Nat B' is the cheapest starter licence if you don't.

There has not been much interest in the rally car class for quite a few years now. I am not sure if any of the organisers are running a Rally Car class this year, but if half a dozen drivers would commit to doing a few meetings, I'm would have thought that space could be found in the BTRDA or the MDA championships to fit them in.

If the Open Series don't run a Rally car class, you could always race in Revivals in the BMW. Send me a PM if your interested.

My driver was considering an outing or two in the rallycar class (and possibly also dragging a couple of other cars out to play), entering the Revivals class would put it in direct wheel to wheel combat wouldn't it? (as opposed to the rallycar class running at 30 second intervals). That'd involve a bit more work to the car wouldn't it - lights would need removing for a start.

Good point. Lights would need removing. I was thinking of the Escort mk2 that raced at Croft last year, that was a Rally car. Might also need to replace the windows with perspex. It's still possible without lots of work.

If Revivals is running to 'modified' regs this will be a requirement. You'd also be required to put in high level brake lights. However it may be that it will be run to 'rallycar' regs, in which case things may be more relaxed. Perhaps Chris or someone from the Open Series can confirm?

There's no mention of the rallycar class on the website so I guess it's been dropped as a stand alone class, maybe the cars would be allowed into the revivals class but as you suggest run under slightly different regs?

I think a few from the Irish rally car class are thinking of traveling to Pembery for the joint round in which case there would have to be a section for them.
