Could someone explain to me the "phylogeny", for lack of a better word, of the lead Eurotech Porsche? All media outlets, including the esteemed DSC, refer to it as an RSR. Clearly, the body is that of an RS. Is it a hybrid a la BAM @ Sebring '04? I gather the Jones car was a new RSR, so did they take the shell of the JWR RS from 2004 and put it on the JWR RSR chassis from '04? And if so, why?

Audi R8R should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I thought it was the RSR that the team used for FIA/LMES events last year. That, or its an updated RS with RSR parts.

Every shot I've seen of the body indicates that part of it is an RS. I also thought it was last year's LMES car, which is why I'm confused.

About 10-15 grand and about 1.5 seconds a lap, from what I've heard.

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Not huge, not insignificant either. It was probably a little bit greater than the step up from an R to an RS, and definitely greater than the steps up within the RS model between 2001 and 2003. I know that the suspension geometry, for one, is completely redone. That fooled a lot of teams at Sebring '04, before they got a handle on it.

Of course, Porsche lightens the cars and increases power just about every year. The latter can be remedied by putting an RSR engine in an older car, as a lot of teams do.

lol thanks for the varying replies - so basically it's just like a normal type of update but they've changed the name of the car so you know which one it is.... sorta thing...

No, actually they're quite obviously different at a glance. More so than the R and the RS. In person, the RSR looks much more like a race car, it's just got that stance.

As for the improvement between the two, think of it this way: Risi thought the 360 GTC was a big improvement over the semi-factory 360s that had been marketed the year before, but the GTC was weaker against the RSRs than the original 360 was against the final, 2003 RSs.
