I would disagree a little on that Paula, the majority of owners restore these cars because of a desire to use them, there are, obviously a few who do it for your stated reason.

Hi Terence,
Point taken and certainly very true. It will be wonderful to see the Healey back in all it's full glory. Wonder how long it will take for the restoration to be done and see it at events like the Goodwood Revival and Le Mans Classic ? Can't wait ... |

There were a few decent cars in the Auction and not much else.
The commodity type cars such as F 40 have already reduced in value with more to come off. To many and not particularly good. Good cars are selling slowly.Be prepared to have a problem getting shot of anything else. The Healey man was lucky he had three heavy hitters who wanted it. Think there is much more chance of seeing the restored car in a rally rather than LMC and the other fancy dress party. They were all buying because they wanted it as a car rather than an investment. Anyone who buys an old banger as an investment is a fool. Yep they have risen in the last few years but that should be considered a windfall and nothing else. As an aside why is the continuity of this site screwed up by all this race meeting stuff? A calender yes but people will start a threas on a race meetings if they think it worthwhile and that should be the guide. Can someone make them vanish so we know ,the users ,what people are spouting about and what is current? |

Like i said earlier,I certainly hope the car is restored in the way it deserves to be,with lot's of sympathy, not a full kit of re manufactured parts from Australia like so many other 100S's have been. |

John, be patient, it's only until a few threads are opened and the calendar things drop down again. If you hadn't logged on today, you wouldn't have noticed.

STOP PRESS
Just received an e-mail saying this: Rumour has it that NOJ 393 sold again to Australia for £1.2m, weird... That's what I call a quick profit, if it's true !!!! H'mmmmmmm that will disappoint my friend ... and referring back to Terence's post: Last edited by Paulaweybridge; 4 Dec 2011 at 22:31. |

That's where most of them are ,in the Alps.
Think it a finished car that's gone for 1.2 million Euro. Why does anyone want one? |

The major 100S collectors are in UK and Alps.
No such thing as value in old crock it's just the price some bod is prepared to pay.and market is made. With most cars holding or reducing in price a few are bucking the trend. Why these Healey's is anyone's guess other that six well healed people want one and very few for sale Porsche Speedsters,50's Porsche racing cars,Alfa 8 C's,are on way up or unobtainable. Most or rest especially the commodity cars that people have been stupid enough to buy for' investment' such as most E Types are at best holding their perceived value but try obtaining this so called value if you own one. Still after my real Lotus Elite with History! |

Given its rather macabre history I think its rather a shame if it gets restored.

If your last post is directed where it seem's John, yes,I have been known to have restored one or two works Healeys [and very sympatheticly]
Had a feeling it would go to Australia, shame as they don't seem to know the implications of ripping everything off and simply renewing it all, rendering the car to becoming just a number plate! |

The bloke who owns it is spending the dosh.It really doesn't effect anyone else and is nobody's business other than his what he does with it.
At least Bronse is in pole position for works drive! The price, easy.Always about half of a reasonable C Type so now't changes. |
