Very dull and mostly rather wet here today. Donington seemed to be running a test session this morning but the sounds were muted by late morning. Whether that was simply an effect of the weather or everyone packing up and going home I don't know. The Mallory area seems to be predicted a wet morning and hardly any better afternoon plus temps only a tad above freezing and feeling even colder. Sounds like a good day for catching up with some admin in a warm office! |

DNA profiling has come on leaps and bounds and it is catching criminals years after the event.
In my local town in the UK two young women were raped and murdered back in 1987 and the case has been open until this week when somebody local has been arrested via a DNA sample. I have an interest in this case because a friend of mine was one of the young ladies boyfriends, and as DNA samples were taken at the time he was eliminated quickly. I have always thought that everybody should have their DNA taken at birth, that would certainly help to solve and stop all sorts of future crime. However it's never going to happen The cynic in me wonders if some secret government outfit is collecting DNA samples from covid tests ? |

My point. With a slight difference, here the DNA thingy is way too much complicated. They collect infos from body temperature checks and keep them warm in toilet rolls. C'est pour ça qu'on est dans la merde!

Wait, is this a whole new conspiracy theory? Do not use public toilets because the government is keeping your DNA from the paper?

Well, I don't know about how it is at Mallory today, but I can report that I awoke to find that my garden is thickly covered (about 3 to 4 inches) with snow. Oh, the joys of living in one of the highest and coolest (as in chilliest) villages in England!

The weather was dry for the majority of the morning but I Called it a day just before lunchtime when the forecast rain arrived and settled in for the day. It was greasier than Jack Grealish’s hair, very cold (2 deg according to my tow vehicle dash board) and impossible to get any heat in the tyres so no grip. I had two spins but wasn’t the only one by a long chalk. Plenty of yellow and red flags and at least one bent car. If Mallory was run by Jonathan Palmer he would have been furious at the state of his grass! I survived ok with no damage and actually drove better when the rain rain came down and the circuit was more consistent. This year, before today, I had spent just 20 minutes in the car when it was working properly (& COVID lockdowns didn’t help) so having had the issues sorted it was good to just get in the car and prove that it worked. Bloody cold, though and glad that it was pretty close to home Last edited by andy97; 4 Dec 2020 at 15:18. |

Glad you enjoyed the morning. The afternoon was much quieter with no more than 8 cars on track at any one time, what you missed seeing though, was a Proton Satria 2.5cc rally car driven by Tony Robinson (no not that one), he was 5 seconds a lap faster than anything else out this afternoon and over a second quicker than anything out this morning. It was a shakedown run and he left the circuit @ the 3 o'clock 'Gate Break' and headed up to Donington where he is seeded 26 in tomorrows Dukeries Rally.
Next up is a bike trackday on Monday, for what we are about to receive.............. |

I hope that Tony Robinson isn’t rallying tomorrow at Donington as I think it’s an MSVR race meeting The Dukeries is on Sunday and yours truly is making his debut in a hired MX5. I think the Mk2 Escort that was out in the morning was driven by the Gathercoles (of engine building fame) who were also shaking down ahead of the Dukeries rally. |

So you hired an MX5 Andy! Which generation and power? In comparaison with your Caterham, you'll feel like a retired driving a Zodiac or Westie! Seriously its a very well balanced chassis, enough brakes to stop the whole thing. Take care this girl pushes you to drift her but she spins quite promptly!

More torque than my Mk1s so. Once problem is to slide a big sausage like you or me between the ROPS and the wheel. We both raced Caterhams so no problemo and you're still slim as a young man. Have fun!

First time today, and I find my junior partner having a birthday, I am Mogrified.
For an ex-teacher you maths is pretty poor young CD. Some cracking photos this month, and Peter made the front cover. Probably too late to say 'Have a good day', Best wishes anyway, Bob. |
