Morocco confirmed for WTCC 2009 calendar!
The World Touring Car Championship seems to be heading for the streets of Morocco next year. Chevrolet writes in a press statement, released today, that they welcome the announcement that the WTCC will visit the streets of Marrakech in 2009.

Incredible! I'm really interested in how the Moroccans will be able to arrange this event? Is there any circuit-racing in Morocco? It will be a boost for theri racingscene anyway. Can't wait for prictures and a map of the track.

Date will be 1-3 May 2009. Official website is up now - www.marrakechgrandprix.com - although no track map as yet.
Surprisingly there's already a draft timetable including WTCC, Open GT, Formula Masters, SEAT EuroCup and a Celeb race. The grandstand section already has corner numbers and details of jumbo screens |
