kmchow should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Petronas ST car team are selling their pair of '94 Mondeos plus extensive spares for only 38K STGs (singaporean currency??).

They supposedly also have a ready to race DTM Calibra that was built for the '96 DTM, but sadly never raced. They're accepting offers.

Also, the latest Autosport has an ad selling a pair of '98 spec Accords for 40K pounds each. I believe the cars are being sold on behalf of Honda by Prodrive?

Anyone else heard of some good deals?

Used ST car prices vs Rally cars

It's amazing to see that in last week's issue of Autosport how much a Prodrive Impreza is worth!
A '98 goes for 140K pounds, '99 goes for 195K pounds while a '00 goes for 295K pounds.

Now compare this to the prices that ST cars go for. Of course, the ST values are this low b/c the cars are no longer used for any major series, but boy, I have to say the resale values just hurt.

Perhaps even I can afford one in another 5-10 years! Don't know what I can do with them, but oh well. At least I have a goal and a dream.

it interesting about the escalation in prices

in '98 the Prices for both of them new was 250,000 pounds (i dont have a pounds key on my keyboard!!!) and now a used WRC car costs more than that...

in Hot4s almost a yr ago they said that ST cars were going for about $80k AUSTRALIAN! in the article the guy (Tim Robson, now writes for MOTOR, and won a drive in the Daewoo series, then they gave him a job!) was saying how he hated seeing them die...

I saw a '98 Pugeot 406 and race transporter for £30k!

True, you can't race them execpt in FSaloons, but They would be awesome at a track day. Imagine scaring Elises and Caterham/Westfields with a '94 Volvo 850 Estate, or a '89 Eggenberger Ford Sierra RS500!

In the latest Autosport, there is an Audi A4 Super tourer, original Ingolstdt car, last raced by Audi Sport South Africa priced at £42K (Plus VAT) with a "huge" spares package by negotiation

I'm not sure how much 310K Euros are in proper money! (pounds that is!) but that would by you an Evo II Skoda Octavia World Rally car that was built in 9/01 with semi-works support

just look at the prices of ST on the Formula Saloon site, up to £40k for the ex-twr Volvo S40, thats not bad really. That is one reason why the series is doing so well, the cost is realtivly cheap for a damm quick car.

I was discussing something similiar on the Aussie TC forum. Even if someone were to give ST cars free of charge to teams, it seems the proper maintenance of the cars could still be too much for the teams to handle? Didn't someone say a small maintenance is an easy 5-10K pounds while the large overhaul of a ST engine could cost 10-20K pounds?? Or has prices dropped? Now consider a used ST car costs 40K pounds, the maintenance every season could cost easily 10-20K pounds? Can anyone confirm those costs?

Maintenance seems to be a major challenge for teams racing ST cars?

Used ST car prices!

8K GBP for a '94 Nissan Sentra!!!
17.5K GBP for a '96 Volvo 850 sedan or Nissan Primera. Interesting, they're asking over 20K for the Estate version.

Man, the prices are collapsing like crazy!! The owners must be taking a bloodbath!!

I guess the big difference is that a used WRC can still be used to compete at international level- there's a bigger market for them than there is for used STs
