The real world in OZ: Fosters as a brand have almost nil% marketshare. Its #1 seller is VB, Victoria Bitter, in a predominately green livery.

Sorry to tell you Scott, it aint happenin'.

PS Fosters Group, ASX listed, is Australias #1 selling brewery ...

It sounds to me Scott that you are missing Skinners or St Austell brews. Time you came home for a proper drink, or maybe I'll see you at one of the rounds and I'll bring you a can over!! keep on banging the drum!!

The lager/ales aren't too bad over here (In NZ) notoriously bad in Oz though i'm sorry to say. But yeah having lived right next door to the Skinners brewery I have to say i wouldn't mind a drop! let me know wot round you are thinking of and maybe we can choreograph!!??

If they were taken from Natsoft they are wrong - they do not take into account the class breakdown.

Correct points are online here: http://formula3.com.au/championship.asp

Why aren't drivers of older cars eligable for the Gold Star?

When did this change? I remember not that long ago at time when F395's F301's and F397's Dallara's (Power, Cressy, Macrow) were winning outright and gaining points for the main championship. Didn't Power finish 2nd in an F397 Dallara? And in 2006 Macrow finished 2nd in an F301 (and F303)?

It seems a shame for people like Tom Tweedie, who finsihed 3rd and 5th outright in his old 2003 model car, won't get an opportunity to fight for outright championship results.

He would currently be 4th outright and only 5 points off 2nd.

It would also make the series look better because it will look like there is more depth in the championship fight.

They where from Natsoft & i think class drivers should be eligible for out-right honours - ie : if they finish 4th in the race they get there 10 points towards Gold Star...

I think you still can, but you have to register for the main class, which then takes you out of National class ect.. Macrow did this in 2006 when running the 01 car.

The problem now for those trying to do that is that 307 cars do appear to have a significant performance advantage over 304 cars. 304 cars did not seem to have had such a clear-cut advantage over 301 ones, certainly not at all tracks. And the regs (I'm pretty sure) gave 301 cars a weight advantage over 304 ones (not sure if that still is the case). It might be a much bigger ask now to win the gold star in an older car.

I am a long time fan of Joey Foster and i must say it is good to see him back racing single seaters, out of curiosity where does Aus F3 stand in the big scheme of things, on a par with what? i cant say i have heard of any of the other drivers, are there any up and coming guys amongst them or is it little more than a clubman field. Apologies for my ignorance, Chris.

Joey's team mate is the son of a sucessful kiwi V8 supercar driver, Tim macrow is well respected as a fast and capable driver in the ozzie motorsport circle. there are a couple of young 'hot shots' but at this stage thats about it, this Sho hanawa fella is meant to be good but not sure what he has done in the past.

Why no F3 race at Albert Park?

Has their spot been taken by Formula 5000 because they could field a bigger grid?

Jeff

nah prob cos the old kodger was his name bernie? prob wanted too much money. although being realistic not sure he has a say in support races prob the promotors choice. sucks thoguh i agree, but i can tell you what the result would have been....

Absolute trouncing by foster, would have been more dominant than the jenson/brawn win over the rest of the F1 field i can tell yee! followed home by Tim no doubt!

Pity they did not race there as I think it is one place Tim may have pushed and even beaten Joey (with a bit of luck). He has a good bit of experience there and that could have made the difference. I think Tim is a great competetor and will keep Joey on his toes for the whole season. I Look forward to some good battles.

I think too that it will be good racing when they get to tracks that Tim already know. Joey has not raced at any so has to learn. And he has no testing between racing so it is what, 20 minutes to learn track before qualifying? Too remember Joey has only 12 F3 starts over 6 weekends before Adelaide, and that 3 years ago, so his F3 experience is still low comparing to Tim.

Everything you say is true except the first sentence, Tim had raced at Adelaide before to my knowledge and hence knew the track. Joey didn't and had never driven on a street track but still dominated the weekend. A professional driver should be able to learn a track in that time, and joey is that, so there will be no issues as long as the car is reliable enough to maximise track time. I hope the racing is good too i just wish i could watch some of it.

Looks like Eastern Creek for us Scotty, credit crunch allowing. And in regard to your previous post, I don't think Tim had raced Adelaide previously, I seem to remember reading that somewhere. How's the diet going?

Scotty mate you are wrong. Tim had never driven at Adelaide or at any street circuit and was driving away from Joey until he brushed the tyres that were placed there for some taxi race. Tim just like Joey will not be testing throughout the year.

His F3 experience may be slightly lower than Tim's but his actual race experience and seat time (testing ect.) would be many times that of Tim's. He will have no problem with new circuits and of course racing. I do know that Tim is also a very dedicated driver and quick learner and has been in a similar position a few seasons ago a will have developed since then and therefore think will rise to the task ahead. I hope that they have some great close races ahead as I'm sure that is what both these drivers wants.

Your point is good, but remember Joey he only start 8 races total since middle 2006 before he get to Australia. He is specialist in developing new cars: Spirit, Lola, HS, Firman and Embassy, he test drive them all before they race. I look forward to many great racing contests with these two and maybe others coming too. Wheel on wheel will be good to see.

fair play then, i thought someone told me he had. all well n good, yes i knew he was driving away from joey, but i gaurantee he was nailing his tires and joey would have come back later in the race, like they said on the website it would have been a great last few laps, but then he binned it.

The diet has gone, thanks for asking, been really lazy on the exercise front, should be getting back into that again once alex is up n walking again.

Eastern creek sounds great, when will you be able to confirm? I need to warm up the better half on the idea of me leaving her behind and going to a foreign country again without her. Hopefully she will be able to wangle her shifts so she has that weekend off, then we can both come.

Yup there is nothing quite like a damn good race for a driver, dominating over and over again would get boring after a few races.

However, i'm not sure what is best for joey's career, complete and utter walkover or a tight race between him and Tim. I'm leanign towards the complete and utter domination! I think thats a sure fire way of getting some decent recognition from a V8 supercar team.

Thing is i don't know enough about aussie motorsport to really comment with any great accuracy or confidence at least.
