I'm sure that there are plenty of Reynards out there to convert....

NASAMAX's success has no doubt spurred on the interest that is appearing in building hybrid cars. However, it may come back to bite them once some of the more superior chassis are changed over.

I was wondering how the ROC-2KQs would do in LMP2 with that Nasamax chassis conversion. The Lehmann engine in there is pretty unfindable now, but it looks like it's installed "last minute style" (for 4 years now!) so an AER or other suitable single turbo engine would make a previously-fifth-at-Le-Mans LMP2 chassis suitable for great finishes in modern racing. One of them was up for sale lately and looked like the owner wanted to get rid of it, and the Le Mans one must be at the end of its (current) life now...
But concerning LMP2 cars, I would think the Courage C65 could become the next B2K/40 in this class. It lapped faster than half of the LMP-1(900) field with an engine installed in a week, a factory team and customer teams are running it with different engine and the chassis has four years of racing behind it. (do i sound like a french salesman? shat would be ze car pour toi mon cher!) But Courages have never been popular or worked in the USA, so their market is quite limited. What about a Porsche 996/997 engined Courage LMP2 car for Gunnar racing? They would need maybe 500000$ to get started, but then the results would surely be very nice. PURE SPECULATION |
