Privateer C5-Rs...

news from dailysportscar.com is that Doug Fehan says they are close to announcing privateer C5-R efforts in the US and Europe...

anyone care to speculate on who the teams might be?

Barbour?
Hezemans?
Creation?

U can rule out Creation, I was talking to Mike Jankowski the other morning about the speculation of the team possibly running a C5R next year and he told me that whilst the team had considered it it was no longer a option, and he isnt sure if Creation will have a GT programme at all next year either.

Hezemans would be a good bet for Europe.
As for these shores...I can see something very different. Someone that you would not expect. If it got some help, a Trans-Am team like Derhag(sp), or World Challenge team would be interesting to see.

Derhaag Motorsports was mentioned as a possibility over on the ALMS boards and I totally agree that it would seem like a logical choice given their current situation with Trans-Am. if they aren't the team lined up for the C5-R in the ALMS, they should consider it!

It is, or at least thats what most of us here think. Not quite the biggest motorsport discussion forum yet, but it is the busiest, and to my knowledge has the most active members.

Goossens/Kumpen would be a very, very strong pairing. Perhaps Hillebrand/van de Poele in the other? Good all-Belgian line-up.

One of the best private teams going around a few years back with links to GM is DAMS, whom in my opinion should have been given the task of running the Cadillac Northstar LMP02 or at the least a C5-R car in Europe years ago. So if they’re still around my vote would go to them for a C5-R. But at the end of the day if GM are going to be serious about competing on the world stage the should be supporting a team in Europe (FIA-GT) with the C6-R, there current product. Shurly it only makes sense to support on the track what you sell to the public.

Bob Riebe User has been fined for unsportsmanlike behaviour!
Over at Autoweek they have photos of a Hemi powered Viper derived concept car.
As it would be easier and more meaningful to go head-to-head against Chevy with a 7 liter version of the Hemi than a destroked V-10, I wonder if this may be what Dodge is thing of coming back with in 2006?

Just a thought.

I fear ur faith may be misguided fab. I hope Dams prove me wrong though, it would be good to see another car up there fighting for podiums and race wins, I just dont see it happening now though with the DBR9 and MC12 coming into the Fray full time next year, I think cars like the 550, S7R, 575 etc will find it very hard just to get onto the podium in 2006 with Maserati and Aston both in the series on a full time basis.

yeah that could definitely have sportscar implications... do you know the displacement of the Hemi in that concept car?

as for the Lambo... I dunno if we will ever see it be succesfull, I'm not even sure we will see DAMS return with them next year to be honest.
