Sadly, workload has overtaken ambition so I'm stuck indoors today.

Yes, although only one was completed at the Trojan factory. There's a short but very informative piece about these 3 cars in the long out of print (1974) 'Specialist Sports Cars' by Peter Filby. The book has a pic of the only one that remained 'original' and carried the reg no. JMR 985E. The Le Mans car was substantially lightened version as the original body was overweight due apparently to Fissore of Italy reading weight limits in Kilos rather than pounds! The third car was drastically altered take a Buick 3.5 V8! Very interesting cars and lovely to see this one out.

looking at the Guards results it seems that there are now enough pre 66 cars to run Guards as it was in period F and let the Chevrons etc have there own race....

John, I have the book, and have been quizzing some older friends . . .one of whom served his apprentiship at Trojaan works, although all his memories, trophies etc are of Italy's finest export. Lambretta! Quote:

Start over time I think - there may be a short delay. 4 hours seemingly wasted this evening though, wjhich is rather annoying. Didn't realise there was going to be a night race today - it was very dark by the time the final chequered dropped. Mostly due to clouds rather than the time. |

Good day's entertainment. Will post some race photos later. For now though a couple to show that looks like it proved expensive for one or two competitors.

Yes, yes, yes. Apparently there are more 1840 MGBs that want to come and play so if they do throughout the year maybe, maybe we can have more GT only races in 2012. Mark |

Another missing racer
I should have been at Donington in the HTC as well.
Unfortunatly, not having the car ready in time is particulaly annoying, not having it ready because someone else didn't have the engine ready in time left me speechless. Looks like I could have picked up some handy points as well. Missing the first round always puts you on the back foot. |

70s Road Sports
Okay, a few from the first race of the day - the 70s Road Sports, which proved to be quite keenly battled at the front with three different leaders who eventually took the first three positions; Richard Plant in a Morgan Plus 8 finishing first. Decent battles all the way down as well.

Historic Formula Fords
The second race of the day was another close fought one with just a few seconds separating the top three who maintained grid order from start to finish with Jamie Bradshaw crossing the line first in his Merlyn just 1.669 seconds in front of Ian Ashley.

Big thanks to Iain for presenting the Volpini in immaculate condition and in perfect mechanical order straight out of the box for Ashley-Brown.
It is of great credit to the Delta Team that the season is underway with a successful finish in the points. |
