Reduced F1 Calendar....

Assuming the F1 season can get going at some point and given that it needs a minimum of 8 rounds to be classified as an F1 championship - which 8 circuits would you go for on your theoretical calendar?

I've gone for 2 calendars one a world championship and one a European championship (less travel for a European championship so might be more feasible)

World championship:
Spa
Suzuka
Interlagos
Montreal
Silverstone
Monza
Red Bull Ring
Monaco

European championship:
Barcelona
Monaco
Monza
Hungary
Red Bull Ring
Zaandvoort
Spa
Silverstone

What would be your 8 circuits of choice for each scenario?

I honestly wouldn't change either of your calendars.

Interlagos would be my world finale. Perfect.

Maybe would change Austin for the Red Bull Ring in the world calendar, but that’s about it

despite the lack of fans, i think i would have Baku on there instead of Barcelona. it is home to the European GP after all.

for the international, i would like to see Singapore on the there. while i do like the RB Ring, it would be the one to replace.

Hello.

Yeah, it's me. Crawling embarrassingly back.

It's a rough old time and I was just wondering how everyone was getting on really. Hope everyone is coping alright.

F 1 needs to take a reality check rather than constantly being on the back foot and being reactive. Nothing will , or should , happen this year. Perhaps some time in 2021 - and treat that as what would have been this year , with the big change in 2022 .

In the meantime , why doesn't the F1 community stop looking up its own backside, wallow in self interest but do something positive ? For years we have been told how F1 technology , speed of response and innovation can help outside the racing world and , laudably , a couple of teams have indeed had input into health service work.

Well, now is your big chance to really impress , guys ...

P38 in workshop has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I was extremely pleased to see this story on the BBC website https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/51963897 . For those who can't be bothered to click on the link a summary is that the Formula 1 teams are making efforts to assist with the production of ventilators for hospitals.Hopefully they will all make use of their networks of specialist sub contractors too.If ever there was a situation that needed rapid production of parts to a high specification this might be it.

I think its out of F1 hands now as affected countries start closing their borders and bringing in measures to limit person to person transferrence of the diesease.
When hundreds of people are dying daily a country is hardly going to want a meaningless car race held there.

Yes, but....

this is the F1 section of a motorsport forum. We're going to be starved of any circuit racing for 3 months ANYWHERE.

We need to have somethings to throw about on here to pass the time in a nice way

Bert, like both your projected mini seasons.

I am sure the grand fromages would desperately want monaco on any calendar, but in terms of logistics and even enthusiasm I reckon we could give it a miss...

If a short notice substitute venue was required, Nurburgring or Hockenheim would be one of my choices.

Nurburgring or Hockenheim? No brainer, it’s the Nurburgring, the greatest of them all. Oh wait, you mean the newer one don’t you?

A couple of my older mates and I were chatting about the very same thing during our fond farewell to the local pubs the other night.

Their suggestions for a short notice calendar were, in no particular order:

Brands Hatch
Silverstone
Rijeka
Brno (either layout!)
Zandvoort
Monza
Kyalami
Indianapolis (on the oval!)
Watkins Glen
Montjuich Park
Paul Ricard/Rouen
Nurburgring full!
Bathurst
Dundrod

There may have been others but by this time I was already choking on my beer!!!

Not sure about Dundrod, that was too dangerous for cars in the 50s, when safety wasn’t so important

Lol, I don't think safety entered our minds! I must add that one of the guys is more of a bike fan, as people may gather from the list!!

Exactly Dundrod is alright for bikes, but way too narrow for car racing. It was it’s narrowness and difficulty to pass that lead to 2 of the 3 fatalities in the 55 TT sportscar race, when a queue of cars got stuck behind a slower driver

Mallory Park is another one that’s very narrow, that said there was always Blundell’s quote about the Aida circuit when F1 went there. “This makes Mallory Park look like Spa”
