Procar QR this weekend

I'll be there all 3 days (hopefully not too long into sunday night waiting for hearings and appeals regarding the BRutes...)- anyone else going?

It should be a cracker- NC, GT Performance and Production, BRutes, Mirages and HQs.

Sadly the F3s wont be there, neither will Stokell's Lambo.

Yeah just read about it in Auto Action whilst at lunch.

I remember watching the Nations Cup races on SBS from Winton in the final race after the Lambo got away Bowe stayed in 2nd place but you could tell he wasn't having a go. I turned to my girlfriend and said I bet Bowe is holding back so he can cry about parity to PROCAR after the meeting and the Lambo will get pinned back again.

Looks like I was right.

Nations Cup won't be the same without Stokell and that beautiful car.

As you may recall the Lambo team put on the same stunt last year. After winning at QR last year, they copped a parity adjustment for Eastern Creek, kicked up a stint and pulled out.

The parity adjustment centred around a further rev restriction, their limit dropping to I think, 6300. Well they argued and lost.

The irony of it all revealed that the Lambo got nowhere near 6300 rpm at QR round where it won all three races including the reverse grid one. So who is fooling who?

I am looking forward to the PROCAR round at QR, should be good, I'll be there, hope they put on a good show. I am sad there are no F3's there, but HQ's make up for it

Disappointing Stokell is not turning up, he hasn't 'dominated' the series in the way Skaife has - and AVESCO has let Mark run away with the title, so why dont (I can't believe I am saying this...) PROCAR take a leaf out of AVESCO's rule book?

Actually with Bowe and Stokell at Winton, Did you notice Bowe had cracked his front splitter? Every time he came past me at Point 9, I could see it flapping. I'd suggest that might have had something to do with it, too...

Intesting news about the Lambo, the article was a little shabby if you know what I mean, it was at the bottom 8th of the page, and the lambo dude said how he wouldn't be there. It didn't seem like a proper pull out. Maybe I'm trying to be extremely optimistic, but these Nation Cup cars are awesome, the more the better.
Have a special weekend at the races , those that are attending.

Also, there is a bit of publicity stunt in town tomorrow in the Queen Street Mall from noon involving a few BRutes.

The way i read it in MN, it sounds like they have only pulled the Lambo from QR, yet the AA article sounds like they have pulled out for the rest of the year. I dunno, i reckon whether PORCAR change the rules or not, the Lambo team will return. And what has happened to the 2nd Lambo which has meant to be coming for about 2 years, and last years SVR, raced at the AGP in the hands of Zampatti, and hasn't been seen since.

Why aren't Formula 3 racing this weekend.

Without the Lambo, i reckon that Geoff Morgan in the Dodge would have to be favourite.

Yes, I want to know why the F3's arent racing either.
I was very disappointed to hear that - they managed to race at Symmons Plains, why not here?

Yep, that's pretty much the official lin Flaggie.

Well all is in readiness- practice today was fairly uneventful.

The BRutes are set to go off, the mirages will be interesting, and a reverse grid HQ race tomorrow will be interesting...

Bowe's Ferrari is something else (and I got to puch it down pitlane!)... It growls, and is sensational under brakes. Twas watching Jim Richards very closely today- sometimes you forget how good he actually is. Lap after lap after lap he was in exactly the same spot on the race track...

Why do so many series seem to be struck with the idea that a National championship can only have one round in Qld? I thought the F3s were great last year at QR? HQs are hardly a comparable replacemenmt, poles apart actually. I checked Friday's practice times and all the HSVs are stuck at the botom of the timesheet, it's a 4 wheel drive turbo benefit. What the......? Surely the long track at QR is the V8s best chance?????? I'm expecting boofhead overload at the ute muster, how embarassing for the sport. Parity is a dirty word for me, sporting socialism is just not on!

Pffttt @ the NC racing- i got to push Bowe's car down pitlane.... that was fairly sensational- i might set up my tape recorder and tape the sound of it.... I now know why some cars cost $750,000...

Well, its all over now, a good day of racing at Queensland Raceway, first time I've been there, hardly an inspiring layout as I'd imagine, but some nice facilities, especially for someone who's only ever been to Lakeside or General Admission at Indy.

Nations Cup was entertaining, shame there was no Lambo, but it's a great category, too bad there aren't aren't a few more cars, the fields were a bit thin. Race 2 was particularly good.

There was some good drives all around in Nations Cup, John Bowe, tough luck with a broken driveshaft on the line at the start of race one, but he did really well to come back for the win in race two. Well done also to Jim Richards in race one, first Porsche of the year. I gotta say, the car that impressed me was the Viper - 8.0 litres of pure brute force, that is one insane vehicle.

But, driver of the day doesnt come from NC for me - how good was Allan Grice in Race 3 in the BRutes! 24 to 6th in, what, ten laps, just sensational.

GT Performance, a bit of controversy with Brett Peters being spun by Geoff Full in the last race whilst leading - hardly suprising Full got a stop go for that.

GT Pro. was a bit quiet really, although the Mirages deserve a mention for the Grassfire at turn 3!

HQ's were good fun again, good job in the commentary box Mark

Overall, good day, hopefully I'll be back at QR for the historics in two weeks time, despite the hopeless layout, I've gotta say the spectator viewing is pretty damn good.

Sounds at special day, can't wait for the tv.
I saw the Brutes from Winton today on SBS and they were amazing, Gricey drove half race 2 on opposite lock.

NC- good battle between Bowe, Richards and Morgan all day, series just needs some more depth. Bowe was rightly docked 30sec for turning Quinn around.

GT Performance- Race 1 was a cracker, and generally it was very good. Shame Full and Peters came together in the last race though... there was a bit of drama there!

GT Production- Pfft

V8 BRutes- still a fair bit of niggle, but a lot of black flags added in.

Mirages- not that great, but the grass fire was quite incredible...

HQs- they were better yesterday... and I must say, that's the least I've commentated at a race track in a fair while!

I had a pretty good day, some disappointingly small fields but some good racing. I was very annoyed at being ordered out of my favourite viewing area because it was reserved for the ute show.

A word to QR. Members who have tipped thousands of dollars into the venue and go to every meeting, don't like being pushed aside to make way for once a year blow-ins.

Crash, i hear there was some niggle between the two camps upstairs.

It's amazing how much the black flag is being used nowadays at major meetings. Where is this headed? Will drivers pull their horns in or will the officials lighten up or will things just stay like this?

I must say I have not seen a black flag used as much at a race meeting as I did on the weekend, and I can not say that all of them were for the right reasons.

Did you guys see the Ute races from Winton ?

Race 1 was total chaos - it was fantastic to watch but it was amazing no-one was hurt with all the shenanigins going on.

Perhaps this is why they have clamped down ?

Patto- re Niggle- I ****ed off and had nothing to do with it all...

It wasnt only the black flags, but also the sportsmanship flags (they're only half a black flag, right?)... you never see them normally...

I would actually be happy to see the bad sportsmanship flag used more often, it's like a soft option to the black flag. Often you ee incidents which warrant some attention but don't deserve a stop go. The Yellow card and red card system seems to work well in soccer.
