[Official] Belgian Grand Prix - Predictions Contest 2021 - Round 12 of 23 - Results

After taking victory in the opening round in Bahrain, congratulations to smellysocks on a second win in 2021, in strange circumstances.

What happened

This unlikely round produced quite a mixed set of results. Obvious anomalies from the top 10 finishers were Bottas, Pérez, Norris and Alonso, predicted by many, but not featuring.

Please note that Mazepin's fastest lap is not applicable, as the F.I.A. has not deemed there to have been a fastest lap in the Grand Prix. Not that it affects anyone. Furthermore, there were, of course, no pit stops, neither was the formula1.com Driver of the Day poll held.

Nobody got that either Russell or Williams would win the poll or that the Grand Prix would score but a 1 on the Ten-Tenths poll.

4 out of 10 predicted Verstappen as the Grand Prix winner and garnered the 15 points for that.

Everybody except Aysedasi and gert predicted 6 of the 10 drivers in the top 10 (in any order and not all the same ones. gert got 5 and Aysedasi got the most with 7 and only Russell, Latifi and Leclerc absent.

Various people got Verstappen on pole, but only gert and smellysocks had Hamilton back in 3rd, though, of course, nobody guessed George Russell would grab 2nd on the grid.

In the title race, things have been switched up. BTCC frog's 6-point lead was decimated and I have moved into the lead, with another 6-point margin over smellysocks, who is in 2nd.

N.B. I have changed to listing 'Winners by event' in the results, instead of 'Winners by race'. This is simply because I decided each round can be considered more of an event overall (including aspects other than the race) instead of just about the Grand Prix race itself. It has nothing to do with the lack of a 'race' at Spa.
