Smith to drive for Champion!?!
Johnny Herbert is close to signing for CART team Sigma Autosport. This means there will be a spare seat at the Champion team, along side Andy wallace for the ALMS season. Boss Dave Maraj said he would sign Smith if Herbert got his IRL or CART drive and wouldn'y stand in his way.

Which Smith are we talking about? Guy? According to this week's Autosport, Guy Smith has already signed to drive a factory R&S with Jim Matthews (the car's owner). (For Sebring, at least).

Guy Smith would be Maraj's number one replacement for Herbert. And with no Bentley drive he can do as he likes this season.

Not quite as simple as that for him, is it? As I understand it, he's been named as Bentley's reserve driver. Now, how does he play that? Replace Johnny (if he gets the chance) or stick with Bentley on the off chance one of the other drivers does a "Weaver" and pulls out?
