Picked this up today. You guys will know it from its Grp 2 ETC days. It was purchased by Allan Moffat when the Cologne Competition department closed. Its last race by the works team was in Sth Africa in the hands of Jody Schecter & Dereck Bell & was shipped to Aust. After some modidfications it was used by Moffat in Sports Sedan races in 1975 & in 1976 helped him win the first National Sports Sedan Championship. He also used a Dekron Chevy Monza in the tittle chase.

This has just been released, the HDT 1987 Holden Commodore VL. This is the 05 car of Peter Brock & David Parsons which DNF in the WTCC round at Mt Panorama. The drivers switched to the teams back up car to win with Peter McLeod after Rudi's Sierras were dsq. for bodywork breaches.

Not a race version but I notice that Norev have produced quite tidy looking 1:18 Mk3 Capris apparently for the German market:

There some on ebay uk now, but I'm going to look at ebay France and Germany and see if there's more available there.

Hopefully we will see some race versions later....

Auto Art are doing the Volvo BTCC in Estate form as well, but as ever, don't hold your breath! If memory serves, the Saloon and Estate were both announced in 2008, and these are the first pictures I've seen of the Saloon. Hope they get them out soon as I've had a Saloon on order since they were announced, and the price has already gone up £40 since then!

Thought folk might be interested that there was a modified Norev Capri on ebay at the weekend, it wasn't on for very long, and this is probably why:

seller is known as modellauto's I think, they had a custom Belga liveried Spa winner on with minilites for about £170 quid. I thought about 'buying it now' but have no spare cash at all, only snapping up bargains here and there.

Can't link as it's sold but the listing mentioned it was one of 5 such cars so keep your eyes out for more in due course.

Because there is probably quite a big demand for Mk3 Capris in the big scale, i'm not surprised a custom model was out so quickly, I imagine other specialists will do others soon?

There was also a late 70's Richard Lloyd Golf GTi listed from the same seller, again modified but can't recall if it was 1:18 or 1:43?

Not see any more Capris come up other than a new Norev release; a black 2.8road car.

I've noticed the Autoart Volvo 240T's are trickling onto the market now. I haven't seen any advertised in UK stores or online yet though, only USA and the Far East?

So far i've seen the RAS car, a Per Sturesson DTM car and a plain white 'test car.'

Also seen a couple of modified 'umbau' BMW 635's on German ebay. There was a Hartge Denny Vojtech conversion and a late model Kurt Konig 1987 DTM car recently. Don't know if anyone else saw them?

My all time favourite racing class is Group A Toruing, but so far I've resisted the temptation to buy any 1:18 Group As as I'm slowly restoring a 1:1 Group A Corolla Sprinter. Now if i see a 1:18 Group A Corolla Sprinter, consider it sold!

Well I don't blame you, it is quite expensive as there's a fair few of them and they're gradually growing!

I haven't added to the collection for a while because I've no serious spare dough - i've had to downsize to the odd 1:43 and racing book.

In the last 4 years I've managed to collect:

BMW 635
1984 ETC Schnitzer '1 (BMW promo?)
1985 JPS ATCC #62
1986 Schnitzer ETC Spa #10

Sierra RS500
1987 Eggenberger Bathurst (Texaco) #6
1988 Dicko ATCC #17
1989 Eggenberger Spa (Bastos) #1

BMW M3
1987 Van der Poele Zakspeed #2
1992 Bigazzi Spa Bastos

Commodore
1986 Chickadee '2
1988 FAI '2

At some point in the years ahead I want to add:

Jagermeister 635,
Eggenberger '87, Brock, B&H, ANZ, Caltex, Sonax, Speedware, Lui RS500's, Brock VK & VL
Schnitzer 87, 89, the various DTM M3's
The RAS Volvo (i'll bet an Eggenberger car will follow in couple of years)
the rumoured TWR XJS that maybe out next year?
And I keep praying for Rover Vitesses.......

Well I could win the lottery!!!

I emailed Minichamps recently enquiring about the release date for the 1:43 Kurt Thiim Rover and was advised it has been delayed.

I also asked if they had considered a 1:18 because there are plenty of liveries for Group A fans and collectors in general.

They said there hadn't been any plans 'until now' but that the suggestion was 'being investigated by their R&D dept' and that I should keep looking on the website for news as 'they cannot discuss future releases'....

Most interesting is what they're not saying rather than what they are if you know what I mean?

My latest Grp A, a few more coming shortly, getting the Walkinshaw/Percy Bathurst Jag & hopefully Biante are still doing a John Bowe Volvo, will have to get one of the Mobil BMWs too.

I heard a 1:18 XJS was on the stocks, is it already out then David??!!

Ben tempted to spend on the '86 Grice and Brock ETCC Commodores but they're a tad ouit of my restricted range at present.

The Grice car is very limited numbers though iirc?

Cheers fir the heads up PDS!

Guess in future years the winner replica will hold its value or increase value better than the 3rd place car, but the Walkinshaw/Percy combo should be significant.

Now what about some bloody Rovers model makers??!!!!!

Yeah, sorry guys, I thought you knew about them? Good spot Aunt Sally.

Biante are making them for the UK market. So rest assured they will be the best you can get.

Biante is Autoart, or at least there's some kind of licensing deal between the firms where the latter makes the models for the former, is that right?

There is a connection somewhere.. I just assumed that Autoart have produced some models for Biante in the past. All the latest Biante models I have bought do not acknowlegde AutoArt at all.

Although most are built in CHINA where AutoArt are based... Biante are based in Australia... So, could be?

The vast majority of Biante's models in 1:18 scale are Autoart.
