Overalls

It's about time I parted with some cash and got a new set of Probans!

I have seen a few marshals - particularly at Oulton - wearing overalls made by SPARX.

I've tried on the www to find them but can't!

Anyone have any info on where I can get a pair?

Mark

Weren't Sparx the odd German pop duo from the 70's or 80's?

I think we should be told.

Mr Observer I did not think you need new overalls.
I have just retired mine now and have gone for Made to measure from hughes. They are well worth a try. The ones I think you are on about with Sparx plastered over them are a sponsor not a manufacturer. They are made to measure ones but not sure by whom.
Also acording to amazon Sparx are a spanish (or Latin American) group who are still going.

Thanks fella's!
The AWS overalls are the ones I have now but I'm not that impressed with them!
Also they don't give access to your trouser pockets (For those quieter moments!!)
HT Hughes are the official supplier of the BMMC sponsored overalls and, yes, they are very good.
But I called them earlier in the week and they tried to deter me from buying direct from them (I wanted Made 2 measure) They said they would be very expensive and I should go through Eric Ridler instead!

Here! Here! I visited them (Hughes) some two years ago to enquire about having two-piece overalls purpose made - I intended to have two pairs. Unfortunately after costing the manufacture out the complete set cost roughly £40 but there was £100 set up cost, so two pairs would have cost £180.

PS If you do intend to visit them don't go when Stockport County are playing at home because there are parking restrictions.

But having said that, I like the pair I had recently supplied by Jaybrand (for Donington ES Rescue unit). Side access to the trouser pockets (tough luck for those who need a handbag stowage. ) Don't know the cost, but not cheap I guess.

I suspect that there may be an issue with supplying overalls with slits in them. I can imagine some H&S freak who may not have done a proper investigation into the actual conditions of use, worrying about a potential point of weakness.

Regards

Jim

Observer I have a pair of made to measure on order from Hughes. I emailed them and explained that standard sizes are not very comfortable to ware and would like a pair. I did got told this "We can make a suit for you but it aint cheap"
The cost is around £80 plus vat and P&P. That is what I exected. And as it is to be more comfortable than my current set well worth it.

Hmmm why would YOU want side access?? Being a man and all that, I can only imagine. Show me sometime. As for hand bag stowage - well what can I say -

The one with the 'tach was on Never Mind the Buzzcocks the other week.

Weird chap - said very little all night - don't think he grasped the concept that he was only there for the others to rip into him.

Sorry I can't be more help with the overalls. My custom built set from AWS do me just fine.
