Race 2 restart

Judging by that restart, it seems that we aren't allowed to race when car is sitting totally off racing line, yet we are allowed to race when there is a truck sitting in the middle of the truck......i thought we had gone back to the great days of pre-1987.......

No-one dislikes pace cars more than me (though i realise why they're there), but why didn't they just do the sensible thing and finish it under the yellow seeing as they'd gone to the trouble of bringing it out for nothing?

Wouldn't have made a lot of difference. Skaife was hardly going to go for a gap worth a handful of points or more likely a ROF for the next one.

That's like the old Holden Bathurst films. One year they had a block with a television camera riding on the tray behind the cabin...fantastic footage of the cars screaming past over the top of the mountain...

I saw this mentioned on another thread about those Holden films, were they ever sold to the public, some of the fottage mentioned sounds great.

Couldn't they have red-flagged it and waited to restart, like the CART race at California last year?

Because that would turn it into even more of a joke....A race shouldn't be red-flagged just for the sake of a green flag finish, also remembering technically that it was after 75% race distance, so the race shouldn't have been able to be restarted (although that doesn't seem to matter in NASCAR)
