I guess everyone has their own favourites - mine would be the 333SP. Honourable mention though to the early Panoz - for the shear drama of the thumping V8

I do have many favourite engine sounds but the Mazda has one thing that the others can get no where near, it was distinctive never have i heard anything like it or even close, it could not be felt like the thumping V8's but you knew you were at Le mans when you heard it and you had the fun of working out where on the circuit it was. For that alone it will always be the sound of my le mans

IMHO this latest project of Mazda, them diesel family barges, is so far of the grandure of the marque and it's glorious rotary engines that it makes my shoulders and the corners of my mouth drop at the same time.
Then again, I keep up my hopes for a hybrid rotary unit. Keep the dream alive !

Retrospectively and ironically, the rule changes, which otherwise had nothing to with Mazda or the 1991 win, and the death of WSC were a really good thing for Mazda. I have no idea how this bullsh*t myth about the 787B being immediately banned after the win has started and when, but now in the internet age it seems really widespread. No doubt it is still easy to milk more from the 787B even after 20 years when internet behaviour and fanboys are doing most of the work.

I'm so sick of this myth that I actually every couple of months or so go through the most watched 787B vids on Youtube and keep replying to pretty much every comment repeating that crap.
