IMG pull out from Sandown ?

Sports promotions group IMG have apparently pulled out of the promotion and running of the Sandown (sorry Betfair Park) V8 Supercar round.
According to former promoter Jon Davison the group have informed the track owners The Melbourne Racing Club that they will not promote the V8 event at the track next year.
This rumour was around at the historic meeting and track manager Wade Calderwood would not confirm or deny it other than to say whatever happened the race would go ahead as planned.

About as much chance as John Howard becoming PM again. No actually that one could happen.

No reason why the MRC (Sandown's owners) cant promote their own events at their track especially consideing the main people Davo had working for him now work for the MRC.

Very much doubt Davo would be back, too busy getting his boy a good seat in IRL Lights.

MRC must have upped the rental prices for next years event.

Doesn't surprise me - I know first hand just how hard it was for them to lock in a major sponsor for the last two seasons. Would have ended up pretty much giving it away...

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
it would seem logical to me, that the biggest v8 supercars promoter in the free world will take over the promotion of this event

V8SC is the new promoter for the Sandown round, that will bring to the total of six rounds for the 2009 season being promoted by V8SC's.

V8SA would be hoping this will be more of a success than their PI ventures.
