Is an X Grand Prix a bit like an X-Games?

Sadly no! We wish it was like the X games.

More like a sad imitation of past Grand Prix Racing, now more a tour really, characterized by corporate and government political correctness.

X stands for current GP.

In this case Melbourne, so essentially we are looking for a travel guide of what people who travel to the Grand Prix should do with the opportunity afforded to them by visiting a particular location.

Getting rotten in the nearest pub is something you can do much more cheaply at home!

So Melbourne must not miss / to do list?

Visit the local Irish bar.

This applies to every GP on the calendar.

In fact - we should rename the thread - Which Irish Bar to visit in X

Maybe learn a bit of Aussie slang?

Just remember the Aussies love motorsport almost as much as they love cricket, so there should be plenty of F1 fans there. And maybe visit a beach while you're down there

Basically - visit the Australian Grand Prix and try not to be killed by the wildlife.

Can't see the local Tourist Board using that for a slogan

There are a number of Irish pubs in Melbourne.... You could do an Irish Pub Crawl quite locally to Albert Park.
The best ones:

"Best Irish pub" is a bit like "Best turd" though isn't it? It's still a turd.

(Should point out that's there's nothing wrong with pubs in Ireland - they're generally quite nice from experience. "Irish pubs" on the other hand are universally awful)

I hope that when people go in “Irish pubs” they don’t think that is what you get if you go in a pub in Ireland.
