That is a really good programme. If i lived in Victoria, I would definately drive down to the island and pay money to see that.

Their could be a number of reasons ,

1. Cost of entries, less cars = bigger entry fees, not too many will pay $2000+ just to enter an event and then the cost of Transport, Accommodation , Food,Race Tyres,Race Fuel etc etc on top of that.

2. Disgruntled competitors for any number of reasons.

3. The rumored upgrade to newer model with bigger engines & better components.
(which is what is needed, but competitors were against it because it made their current cars obsolete & valueless with nowhere to sell them to).

4. None or very little communication from category management.

5. Owners & or Drivers had no input into category decisions which affected them directly.

6. Most don't want to or wont travel to interstate rounds & considering 95% of the know cars reside in Victoria, both rounds so far this year have both been interstate.

7. Drivers & Owners moving to other categories, eg. Utes, Carrera Cup, V8 Development Series.

There are about 30+ know cars in existence, just needing an injection of enthusiasm from somebody, so sad to see only 6 cars at Mallala in this terrific class.

Thanks Dasher.

It seemed they went from 20+ grids to having the same number of cars as the Swift series in a very short time frame.

I can't understand why CAMS would approve a category like Swifts in the first place, there is enough categories to choose from already for anyone who wants to racing, too many categories can only deplete grid numbers in other's?

Because another category started means CAMS can charge another fee for category rights management

merging classes means they get less income

Then the category managers pass on the fees adding in a profit margin to the competitors which ends up beyond the average racing budget effecting the amount of entries. Too many entities wanting to make profits out of the competitors investments.

Congrats to all the winners on the weekend....

Kane Rose took out the Porsche GT3 Cup in his "new" ex-Terry Knight 997 machine. Beating home John Goodacre and Jeff Bobik

Darren Hossack took out the Superkarts ahead of Jason Smith and Gary Pegoraro.

Dylan Thomas (EVO IX), and Garry Holt/Ryan McLeod (EVO X) shared the race wins, and also tied on points for the Australian Manufacturers Championship with Des Wall in another EVO IX in 3rd overall.

Greg Crick's Mopar Viper took out the Australian GT Championship round overall ahead of the Erebus Racing Mercedes duo of Peter Hackett and James Brock.

Kerry Baily took another round win in his Aston Martin ahead of the de-charcoaled Tony Ricciardello Alfa and Michael Robinson's Monaro.

Gavin Bullas held off Brett Youlden and Tony Edwards to win the Touring Car Masters

Not quite right Nathan, Kerry won the round, Shane Bradford finished second overall (and first in the Trans AM class) with a rock solid effort in the Camaro. Ricciardello limped home to 3rd overall with a very sick engine in that last race.

Hossack had the pace - 1.29:8 is an incredible lap time! , but a DNF with an axle failure in Race 1 and then taking himself out of contention in Race 2 put paid to much of a points gain on Kerry last weekend.

Oops! Was thrown by the pointscores being separated into SS and TA classes! Good run from Shane on the weekend

BUMP !

Without wanting to sound like a wet blanket, I noticed for Winton they have scheduled a pair of 45 minute races for Commodore Cup ?
Will be very egg on face if only six cars turn up (like at Malala)

Having said that, I anm very excited to see Aust GT, and re-cycled Supercars on the card, as they will put on a great show.

Who else will be there in (9) 10 days ?

One would hope the series organiser had required some form of upfront commitment to guarantee a decent field before scheduling such a race distance.
