mixedupfiles should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
V8 Supercars - Austin, TX May 2013

I'm new here and I have absolutely no experience with motorsports whatsoever, so please go easy on me.

I live in Austin and a friend recently dragged me out to the Circuit of the Americas track for a Grand-AM race last Saturday. I have to admit that I didn't think that I'd like it at all but I ended up having a great time. I vowed to go back to the track as often as I could.

Looking at the track's own website, I see that there's a V8 Supercars race coming up in May, but other than ticket information, there seems to be very little information about the event itself. I see that tickets are only available as a three day pass, so could someone please let me know what typically goes on on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in this format? I would assume that since it's a three day event, the marquis race would be on Sunday. Is that correct?

Can anyone shed some light on the full schedule for this event? I'd probably like to take my family, but three days would probably be a bit much for the kids.

Edit: Since I was unable to find any information elsewhere, Google brought me to this forum.

Friday: practice
Saturday: qualifying/top 10 shootout. 200km race
Sunday: qualifying/top 10. the other 200km race
thats the usual format for a round, but the Texas event will have 4X 100km races going 19 laps around COA, and maybe other wildcard entries from other series.

]Hi mixedup. The V8 Supercars are on the short circuit, dont know what disstance it is but I would say 3 and a bit Kilometres.
I am testing my old old head here, I thought there was mention of a 60 or so lap race on the Satruday and the same on the Sunday. WIll try to find that info for you.

V8 Supercars is also delighted to announce that, the SPEED™ network will televise the two 200km races live and throughout North and South America.

yeah your probably right, it would be strange seeing them line up 4 times in a weekend. and no word of them being partnered for the races, which is a good thing.

V8 Supercars should use the same format for all Rounds including the Enduros, hasn't done F1 any harm.

Thanks to all of you Aussies for all of the information. I do have one more question, though: Are the racers the same each day, or do some get eliminated after Saturday?

As I mentioned, motorsports is very new to me but with a track in my backyard now, so to speak, I'm pretty excited about it.

Same drivers all races.

The only reason someone wont grid up is if their car is too heavily damaged to repair, which can be an issue so far from home. Teams can only bring so much with them

If you would like to watch some of the action Speed will have a 2 hour shortened recap of the clipsal 500 (First race of the season) at 5pm on the 31st March. Normally speed will show a 2 hour recap of each race approx 2 weeks after the event.

What a load of ****. They had better leave the DSO and stewards at home. Bend a few panels, our aggressive style of racing.

Im not a big fan of the short circuit... it has no character... no real passing zones. Hopefully they will extend it after the lack of passing into T15.. maybe left after esses into hockenheim parabolica hairpin, then onto longer straight for run to T15... just imagine.

I could be wrong-

Plenty of overtaking in the Grand Am/Conti Series at turn 1 the other weekend!

HRT to possibly be Chev Racing Team:

But more importantly, look at the name on the side of the towtruck, found it amusing!

Surely it's time for V8SC to do away with the "400" or " 365" or whatever
for event names as they are becoming a tad confusing.

Tasmaia Microsoft 365, Darwin Triple Crown etc.
With the exception of Clipsal, Townsville, Sandown, Bathurst, GC and Sydney,
maybe they should just be all called "V8 Challenge", ie Winton V8 Challenge.

The product being promoted is Microsoft Office 365. A bit like 7-11 sponsoring a race, the product has numbers in it...
