Silverstone charging entry for testing
I read with interest that Silverstone are charging £12.00 a day to attend F1 testing next month, £30.00 for all three days.
I recall paying a nominal sum (£3.00 springs to mind?) back in the late '80s or early '90s which I think went to charity, but it has traditionally been free, as I'm sure you're all aware. I think it's a shame - don't get me wrong, £12.00 to see a day of F1 action is a bargain - but the Silverstone tests were probably the last aspect of F1 for UK fans that hadn't been tainted by profiteering. |

Yes it's fairly poor. My Sister lives near Silverstone and always used to get in for free!
It must be just marshals that are free these days!!!!! |

Some friends went in 2005 and raved for ages that it was the best £5 they have ever spent, which is why I have never been able to forget that it was £5

A further note:
According to an email I received from Silverstone there are no tickets available on the gate for these three days, tickets must be ordered in advance. "There is limited availability of tickets and all tickets must be bought in advance so book now to secure your place. Please note tickets will NOT be available to purchase on the day and that access to some areas of the venue will be restricted. " |

Handling Fee (2008 F1 Test), Club Handling Fee £1.50
So it's £13.50 or £31.50 |

I am not trawling through the other thread, but I'd imagine this it to try and reduce some of the problems they had last year...or maybe it was the year before when people were in parts of the circuit they shouldn't have been and also those who were pressed up against the debris fencing.
