Unfortunately the VSCC have a closed website to non members. I got my finals today and it does look a good turnout. Not all events are full but some have reserves.

As an aside though, whilst I'm sure there may be a very good reason for it, I do think that the lack of available entry lists is somewhat unhelpful for the paying spectator. The circuits and clubs seem to go to great lengths to encourage people to attend (e.g. I've had e-mails from both Donington and the VSCC) and they can't even bother to publish provisional lists. In fairness the VSCC aren't alone in this regard but I've heard all of the arguements about 'gate receipts don't go to clubs', 'spectators aren't our customers' etc etc etc but I continually find it annoying. Rant over. Thanks again to you both. |

VSCC are particulary bad for this. Quite a number of their events (trials and autotests for example), are members only and that applies to not publicising them outside the club.
Here in the Lakes they run their Lakeland Trial each November, a very popular event with good access in the firsts and the main hill, Drumhouse, has a cafe and car park etc. Lots of spectators. Nevertheless the VSCC keep the event "secret". I write a local motorsport column and they won't give me an entry list. Fortunately the local organsiers are all members of local clubs so I get the info that way. I think there is still a bit of "The right crowd and no crowding" attitude in the VSCC - Old money! Perhaps not looking to the future enough? |

You'll find me in the paddock bemoaning the wayward handling of the WSM compared to the Elite. But it is a very unfair comparison. |

It's an even further drag north Brian. You don't know how lucky you are with the proximity of circuits. Pity about the scenery, traffic, living costs though!

Entry list
I was thinking of going this weekend, but also have not found an entry list.
Unless anyone can come up with one, I will not go on Sat, and only maybe on Sunday. Why do they not issue a list? All it takes is posting the list that goes out with the Finals! I have emailed VSCC, but no reply!!! CP |

Spent the day flagging on post 4 (Redgate Out) today. Surprisingly we had almost nothing to do - incident team had nothing at all! Congrats to all the drivers who got through the weekend unscathed, and I hope those who fell off elsewhere on the circuit haven't got too much damage to their person or car.
I snapped some shots of the Napier Railton doing the rounds and in the paddock. For those who like that sort of thing, they're here. Napier Railton, VSCC See Red, Donington Park, May 22nd 2011 by Graeme Fowler, on Flickr |

Yet again John Guyatt served up a super pre-war sports car race but the See Red Meeting overall is no longer what it once was. Sad to say but it is a shadow of its former self, now totally eclipsed by the historic meeting at Donington earlier in the month. There was certainly very little buzz about the place. The demonstration attracted little interest which is a great shame because the Napier Railton is a national treasure. Spectators were few and far between. Perhaps the time is now for the VSCC to return to what it is really good at and that is running good old fashioned 'club' meetings. Leave the grand events to others and cut the cloth accordingly.

That comment from one of the most respected men in Pre War racing and racing in general states his opinion on the state of VSCC and lack of thought and direction in their planning.
A pity but you can take a horse to water but not make it drink.Mushroom management. They do it their way and pity anyone who disagrees. Sure Prescott will be a tremendous success but what about other meetings I would enter cars especially in John Guyatt race but they always clash or are to close to other meetings. |

Well as one of the relatively few spectators at Donington (on Sunday only), I can say it was still enjoyable to watch the races so I will try and post some photos of the races that day. Weather conditions were not ideal - it was very gusty - so that's my excuse for some of the blurred images!
The first race of the day (Race 7) was the Equipe GTS: |

Nice work Gary.
The wind (and presumably the associated dust) was something that put me off a little but the prime reasons were some family activities and the 4000 frames from Pau. Adding another thousand or two to the 'to do' pile just did not seem like a good idea especially with another meeting to cover this coming Saturday. I must find a better way organise the workflow.... |
