Williams desperately need new sponsors, that’s for sure. I’ll be sorry to see Martini go but you can see why they might not think that Williams represent a sound investment any more.

What if Martini went to Force India? With this consortium headed by Lawrence Stroll, I would have thought Vijay Mallya is pretty much out of the equation, as clearly the various sponsors Mallya brought on board when he was in charge, weren't able finance Force India any more, hence the current situation.

Martini is leaving racing as are most of the Bacardi owned brands. It's not a leaving Williams thing, they're leaving racing so they aren't going to Force India and it's not worth debating what ifs that won't happen.

Problem is quite possible to do a “Haas” for 2019 with Mercedes, meaning a lot of staff very worried and looking to anywhere, Enstone, Haas themselves, FI even McLaren etc.

I haven't read or heard anything that says Martini are leaving motorsport, just Williams.

JV sticking the knife in by saying that is his opinion, Stroll should leave Williams now and move over to Force India after the summer break and with losing the Stroll funding and Martini, this is the final nail in the coffin for Williams, adding that 'no pay driver' would want to spend their money there...

I have mentioned this in another thread. I don't blame JV for having an opinion. I blame the press for having him on speed dial.

If Villeneuve told me it was raining, I’d go outside to check the weather.

It seems to me that Williams’s best hope in the short term is a closer alignment with Mercedes, and hopefully some financial support from them. Ocon/Russell would be a cracking line-up, and buying in large amounts of Mercedes peripherals like gearbox and suspension makes sense.
