How tall is Alec Buncombe?

People have been wondering what makes the ex Fangio C-type such a quick machine in the hands of Alex Buncombe. Is it because he is so small? Here are two shots from last week's Le Mans Calssic, showing three C-Types and it looks like Alec is the only one that sees the road with the steering higher than his eyes....improving the aero by keeping his head down or are there other things at play?

Don't think its a lot to do with his height or that he's a decent driver!

Notice new dent in front at weekend.

he surely is but being significantly quicker than Gary Pearson in a D-Type raised my eyebrow.

Maybe he is lying almost prone with the seat right back. Nothing wrong with that is there?

It's a tall story !

Of course he's not that much quicker than Gary, probably no quicker in equal cars.

He a decent driver with a very , very very .... quick car .

Surprising what a development programme does.

Seem to remember being same speed as that C with Alta about five years ago .

Jaguar would not have had to build D or Probably E if they had developed C to same extent in period.

Jim Clark driving position in a 1952 car?

it looks a bit like he is the Newey of the E-Types....

this is how the car looked at the Monterey Historics in 2005....and subsequently in 2011 during a demo run at the Revival, it looks very much that Clive Chapman is behind the wheel.

having looked at some E type photo's a few years ago, it struck me perhaps some of them were more aerodynamic than others . . . they don't all look the same.

the jags clearly have engines capable of propelling at a rate to make such detail relevant, well, they do now, with the appropriate 'development budget'

underlining the futility of buying a new Lightweight, built according to original specs....
