Bathurst entry lists for 1960s
Can anyone point me in the right direction to find entry lists for Bathurst or other major touring car races from the 1960s - especially 1964/1965?

minis, Cortina GT, HOldens ( don't know which) , Toyota Corona, Volvo amazon, VW Beetle, theres a gret video on the MArket with everything . . . have a look here for the winners cars of 63 and 65, I'm building one at the moment  http://www.throbnozzle-racing.co.uk/.../Bathurst.html it was mini 64 Iand 66 I think |

correction, Cortina won in 63, 64 and 65, mini 66
1962 was Phillip Island I think ? |

Studebaker, went really well . . . .for a while, I seem to recall it being quick but spending more times in the pits than the Cortinas

I don't know anything about them, but I'd imagine they can be made to move at a reasonable lick there must be some rapid Holdens about as well ? ? ? or are they all a bit bargelike in that period ? |

Cheers Joe,
Holdens only went V8 in 1967 and Falcons in 68 (or vice versa). So against a 65 Mustang notch back its not going to be a lot of fun! As you know, Simon and I ran the LC in this years 6 hours but they are just not up to the really long distance punishment that a big lazy V8 will take. Hence my search for 3 things: 1. a big lazy unstressed engine that will run and run; and 2. as a kiwi, something from closer to home and a bit different (everyone has a Mustang etc these days); and 3. the holy grail (jokes!) Ideas anyone? |

go to www.natsoft.com.au and our GroupNb pre 1965 Historic sedan
category has results for your class of car from all over Australia.Nothing will beat the faster Mustangs.Chev Nova,Studebaker Cruiser are good lightweight V8s but the humble EH Holden 179 even with its now well sorted drum brakes and 3 speed box are hard to beat due to 40 years of race development.As an indication as raced under our GroupNb rules they lap Bathurst as quick as a 2000 Subaru WRX Sti-about 2:51. |

Floor shift is acceptable although it won't help-just gets your arm too far away from the steering wheel !
The utilities had wider drum brakes which are legal. Get a Girling or VH44 servo,5.5JJ X 13 Mags,3 x 45 Webers,3.55 LSD,heat up the steering knuckle and bend some Neg camber & Pos caster into it [ fine tune using standard adjustment],front very low with really big antirollbar,REAR flattened 7 leaf utility springs,no antirollbar---well thats part of it !!! By the way how restrictive are your regs -?- Brock prepared his 1953 FX UNDER SOME VERY LENIENT CODE-WAS THAT UNIQUE TO gOODWOOD?? |

Roger, I think the LC is capable, but not in sprint spec ! I'd still rather the tougher GT for longer races, although its never going to be as fast. Studebaker could be interesting. |

Never going to be as fast,Zef the GT I had the pleasure of driving on LeJog had a genuin 176bhp,Lotus,es were really no problem!

176 is possible, but not to FiA spec . . . 150 I'm working on rather than 135, but keeping it relaible then becomes the issue. . . . I'll see after the Winter rebuild and dyno test
Twinks at 176 should be reliable if well built |
