Forda should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Pin left the HDT at the end of 1983 to set up The Brock Shop in Queensland.

Of course this has little to do with him knowing which car is which.

Not sure the best source would be someone who wasn't there when they were made, and subsequently sold/donated?

What should be interesting is the new info Lloyds say they will be releasing closer to the sale - might help shed some further light on the subject.

Christmas at the Brocks? Plenty of opportunity to discuss over a tea with Peter over the years before his untimely death.

Wouldn’t Mr Perkins be best placed to share this information given that he led the team that built them both?

It will surely take more than presumption to solve this $2M mystery.

I'd say he's kept quiet, primarily because of the value at stake.

The Mort (who also built the VK's) did speak out about it in AMC magazine though:

It seems an open and shut case to me, the credible people have all said it is the right car, albeit a grandpa's axe now.

Also logically, it makes ZERO sense to donate the real one to the museum at the behest of Holden.

This has got me thinking. Do any pre V8SC Bathurst winners actually exist in or close to unrestored / as raced condition?

Harvey, from memory, has said that #05 is in the museum. The Bertie St investigation leaves little doubt, as does the AMC one.

The Chickadee Commodore was raced into 1987 by Grice, and was later raced by Derek Bailey in the late-80s and early-90s in Sports Sedan events in NSW. Not sure how original that makes it from it's Bathurst win

According to a V8 Sleuth article. It did the Adelaide F1 support races after Bathurst and then retired by HRT. To this day retained by the Walkinshaw family.

Probably about as original as you'll get, compared to the others.

I think GRM retired their 2000 winning VT straight after the race and it remains exactly as it crossed the line. Although its post 93.

The cars Mr Perkins has restored, and in the process of restoring, are as close to original as possible. Matching numbers engines, gearboxes, even un-modifying the rollcage in one chassis.

The Walkinshaw family don't own the 1990 winner any more. Interesting that they sold it.

Wow, that's an interesting read & does create some doubt as most I have seen online have said the one being auctioned is #25.

The issue I have with Lloyds is their guy on Gold Coast 9 News saying " this is the race car (XU1) that Brock won his 1st Bathurst in".
Champion's display clearly had it as a replica (albeit a genuine XU1)

Bidding's started, with 15 days to go:

Looks like it's set to end at 8pm on Saturday night, just prior to the race start.

The Australian newspaper have an article on the Brock car auction, and the doubts over the 1989 Mobil Ford Sierra.
