He has certainly come on damned strong since mid-season, and he's a worthy champion. Kovalainen will be understandably disappointed, as he began the season the strong favourite, but the good thing is that it won't affect his career. In all likelihood, he'll be Renault's third driver next year and a race driver in 2007. Whereas the title has opened doors for Rosberg.

Yeah Rosberg has been with a top team Bella and that does in part count as to why he is the GP2 champion, but let us not forget that Rosberg also has a lot of skill. Are Art the best team in GP2 though? Sure they won the teams championship this year but I woudnt bet against Arden getting the title back in 2006.
All credit to Rosberg, hes put in some very good performances this year to take the 2005 GP2 championship. IMO. The fact he is with a top team also helped too no doubt. |

The final race was brilliant, a great advert for the catagory. Lots of good clean racing, drivers giving each other racing room and swapping places all round the circuit. Rosberg underlined his dominance with a stellar performance with some great overtaking manoeuvres. The effect securing the title had on his confidence was clearly visible.
Whilst the ART cars are clearly the best prepared, Rosberg has still had the measure of his team-mate Premat, who is no slouch having won the Zandvoort and Macau F3 races last year. He is certainly a deserving champion and I look forward to seeing what he can do in F1. GP2 really has got the formula right, a field full of quality drivers, good-looking cars that have more power than grip and can follow each other close enough for overtaking to be plentiful. Hopefully with this year's stars all securing F1 race/test drives, the series will continue to attract the cream of the young talent within the sport. |

Autosport is reporting that Ferdinando Monfardini is in hospital in Manama after an operation following the GP2 finale - anyone know anything more?

Monfardini developed a groin injury after race one and was hospitalised, then decided to enter race two and needed an operation afterwards.
