Yes, but don't forget Spa is already in a massively modified form to its original configuration.
Just because a circuit has to be adjusted to meet the needs of modern F1 cars does NOT mean that the circuit has to "suffer". Spa hasn't. Pouhon is a phenomenal corner(s) and that is part of the new circuit. IT IS POSSIBLE TO MAKE MODERN CIRCUITS GREAT. Which is what makes me so distraught about this new Hokenheimring. It looks a mess. The hairpin looks like a great passing place and I actually welcome that. But otherwise it's inexcusable. So long as they're safe, it IS possible to design a GREAT modern circuit. No doubt. |

The design looks very lazy to me. They had two fixed points on the original track and simply joined them with a straight  . There goes another circuit where Williams may have had a half chance of getting near Ferrari.
On another note, am I right in understanding that the new layout will not be used until 2003? I can swear I read somewhere that this was the case. |

Safety is making a parody out of F1...I mean,I don't want the people to be killed, but I don't like to see drivers runninga round on a kindergarten-track.That's what Hockenheimring had...unpredictability and style!

I think Ron Dennis agree to modify the circuit as their team suffer a lack of power in the straight!!

You can never have the old Kyalami back as it no longer exists. Its been built upon. I had a look from the overhead shots during the WSB race.

To be fair, that picture is utterly misleading. I'm sure it will look pristine, green and gorgeous come July or whenever the GP is.
But then again, Sepang is a beautiful, wonderful if slightly souless circuit. Which is exactly what this one's going to be. |

Wouldn't the environmentalists have had a big whinge about it? Surely they could have stopped it from being built for a while!!

They have remodelled turn 1. I saw it on the DTM coverage on Motors TV today. It seems they have moved it back along the pit straight to add run off(now abrasive tarmac)

Will the old Hockenhiem still be accessable if other racing series want to use it?, or does the new circuit apply for everyone?.

I think it applies for everyone. I think the old one will remain, but never used. They would have to dig some up to make the new track and for run off.
