Rossi To Test Ferrari Again

Valentino Rossi is about to test Ferrari once again Wednesday in Fiorano, then Thursday and possibly even Friday in Mugello.
Wait and see, cannot say much more...

Not yet, but this test will be decisional for both Valentino and Ferrari to procede and go on with a whole test season next year.

How would he go qualifying for the Super License at the moment ??

Also, is there any chance that maybe Valentino might race in the occasional GP next season when his Moto GP Schedule Allows.

I was thinking maybe the Italian Events.. Imola and Monza.. do they clash with Moto GP ??

They'll send Massa over to Red Bull/Ferrari for a race or two in exchange for cheaper engines.

Monza clashes with the MotoGP race at Sepang, Imola doesn't clash.
Don't see it happening though.

If Rossi wins another title in 2006 id not be at all suprised to see him in F1 next year. If however he doesen't win the 2006 championship id not be suprised to see him stay in Moto GP for a while longer to try and re-take his crown.

Rossi is only in his mid 20s now. How old was Damon Hill when he made the move from two to four wheels.

SpawnyWhippet has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I am still not sure whether this whole thing is a marketing stunt...

Would Burnie/Max let Rossi race with #46?

Unlikely, the only person I remember choosing their race number was Nigel 'Red 5' Mansell (although that may have been when he raced in US after his F1 days). For Bernie to allow Rossi to choose the number would be to imply that Rossi was bigger than F1.

Mansell wasn't "allowed" to choose his number, he was fortunate that Williams held the number 5 and 6 numbers in the early '90's (Tyrell raced with 3 and 4 even though their performances and results didn't warrent it).

When Mansell went to McLaren in '95 he raced with number 10 iirc.

Thats right, he only 'chose' his number in Indycars; Newman Haas exchanged their no. 2 (due to Michael Andretti finishing 2nd in the 1992 championship) with Scott Goodyear's no. 5, so that Mansell could drive 'Red 5'.

The numbers are handed out by the FIA, and no Rossi isnt as big as F1.

He's already got his super licence - he did enough miles in the tests earlier this year to qualify for it.

I can't see him doing races next season. Even when the dates don't clash, he's got 3 jobs already with Yamaha - race rider, chief test rider and chief developer of the 800cc bike for 2007!

Don't forget, Dani Pedrosa is coming along. That would be a challenge...

Dani is going to take at least one season to get to grips with the bike, I reckon. After that, who knows. I think Vale's title is probably safe for one more season, though he will have to fight harder.

Even I'm taller than Bernie....

Damon was 24 when he switched from fairly low-level bike racing to beginner car racing - Rossi has a lot more experience under his belt and a lot of time left to adjust. A season in F3 or GP2 would not be the end of the world for him.

Worth remembering that in 2007 the MotoGP engine limit changes from 990cc to 800cc, and Honda have a huge advantage in being able to convert their existing engine easily (and I'll give you 3 guesses as to which manufacturer suggested the new rules). If Rossi feels Honda's 2007 bike will be mcuh better, it could push him in either direction - he might feel that he has no point in continuing for a title he's unlikely to win, considering that he could easily win his 6th top-level title next year, or he might see it as his biggest challenge yet, and one he's worthy of taking on.

Plus how many titles did Randy Mamela (sp?) wind up with - could be a record for him to stay and beat...
