I would guess Speedworks would be most likely to expand having a spare Avensis and doing very well last year.

Other than that... Parker? 2x Focii if the BMW rumours are only rumours? Thinking aloud...
Of course the curveball is if Moffat takes the 3rd BMR seat, thus technically using his own TBL and leaving another one free. So it could be that there are 3 TBLs unaccounted for (including the Parker one, who haven’t announced anything yet)

Having a shell and having the money to convert it into a racecar are two very different things.

I guess that shows how little money Plato brought to the team last year as well as Subaru. I wonder if it will be much better this year.

Well Silverline were present in 2016 only, Tesco are only a helmet sticker these days... and the VW in 2015 was blankety blank until the last few meetings.

Does look like backers are harder to find...

Or Plato isn't seen as a viable proposition anymore. BMR"s budget really wasn't up to much last year, I may have said it before but if they have a similar budget again this year, it begs the question how many more seasons they will have in the BTCC.

I would imagine that Plato brought enough budget to run his car, pay his salary and have a little left over for accident damage.

Let's assume that running the car costs £10k per race weekend, tyres are a further £2k per race weekend, and the engine costs £60k per season. Add on a bit of testing, and JP's salary of £250k, and suddenly you're not getting a lot left over from Adrian Flux's half a million.

Turning a shell into a race car is not a cheap job: It requires hundreds of man hours of work and will cost tens of thousands of pounds.

You reckon you can prep the car, fund your workshop, take the trucks and equipment to the circuit, pay your staff and pay their travel, accommodation and feed everyone for £10k per car?? !!! Not to mention buying and maintaining all the kit in the first place!

Interestingly, he flat out said "No" to someone who suggested he was going to TD, so I guess that puts that line of speculation to bed.

Dudley has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Maybe Motorbase tapped him in case/because Matt's off.

They team didn't even have the budget to do much in t he way of preseason testing. Some of the independent teams carried out more testing. They should consider themselves very, very fortunate that Sutton got the car hooked up and won.

Agreed, if Sutton was also spending the year scrapping around for 10th and 11th places most of the time I don't think we would be seeing Subaru, BMR or Plato in 2018

Very impressive signing. Bit of a coup for Norlin. Pretty sure some other teams may b a bit jealous.

Also impressive sponsor on board for Norlin, The Range. With retailers struggling as they are currently, a very impressive step for them but again a credit to the BTCC.

About right for the team. I suspect that the TD opportunity has caused some ripples through the driver market since the announcement.

Haven't I seen The Range sponsor someone in the Clio's in recent years? Be interesting to see if the smart plain grey/pink livery changes too?

No, that would be Range Storage, sponsor of Lee Pattison. It may actually be his oen company... different to The Range though.

I did originally have Nash as driving a Honda, I just got the team wrong.

That's another point... Nash was down for the Dynamics seat for a lot of us...

That's an excellent bit of business by Norlin getting both James Nash and the Range on board.

I have to admit, I had my doubts when I first saw the cars with such little sponsorship last year - but they really did look a professional outfit, and both drivers scored well for a team debuting in older machinery. Wins have to be the target this year - and with Nash and a Type-R I doubt many of us would bet against them.

Suspect this time next week an awful lot more will be clearer too...
